Absolutely Fantastic
If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.
I will not watch this film. From now on, I will give 1 star to any movie which is a rip-off of another movie and is not better than the original.Yes, I have watched "I saw the Devil". What difference would it have made if I didn't see the original?Ripping off movies is a shameful act.I sincerely hope you eat your currency notes Shobha Kapoor, and take your money after death.I don't have complaint against them who have not seen the original. I can tolerate their rating of the movie.
I am truly astounded at the folk who are giving this movie a bad review. Seriously speechless. This movie is one of the best Bollywood movies I've seen, and it hasn't provoked such a reaction since I watched Awarapan. The non linear story was executed sublimely. The tragedy in the movie was executed to utter perfection; the songs kick in at the best possible time drawing tears (parallels with K3G can definitely be made). And the songs...Oh dear God, they are just another level.Just like Emraan Hashmi impressed me in Awarapan, I'm now Siddharth's newest fan. His portrayal was a good effort. By no means is he the finished article, but he did a damn great job of playing a kind of tortured soul. Love it.The only drawback was the villain. I think they needed a stronger presence.I enjoyed this movie so much I actually got up off my ass and wrote my first ever review.Songs. Drama. Action. Tear-jerking moments. Symbolism. Philosophy. This film is an example of when Bollywood gets it right. So what if its a remake of I saw the Devil? It's made alterations to suit the Bollywood genre.Mohit Suri smashed this one to pieces. Defoz a must watch. And with Bollywood producing nothing but rubbish, a most welcome surprise.Watch this peeps!!
The overall theme of this movie was amazing. The actors were amazing. the songs were amazing. and the chemistry between Shraddha and Siddarth was incredible. it was Chessy at some times but there is so much foreshadowing and little hints in the movie that make the cinematography so good. and the lines were absolutely incredibly written. When you watch this movie pay attention to the lines they are beautiful :) It is probably one of the best Bollywood movie of this time. where the theme actually relates to a bunch of characters in the movie. you don't know who the villain is exactly which i loved and it showed that darkness can not exist without light and vice-versa. i love the message and the way it was directed.
I must admit that I couldn't figure it out when the film began, but half-way through, it struck me that I had watched a similar film a year or so earlier. Then I remembered it was a Korean film which has been burned in my memory: I Saw The Devil directed by Kim Ji-woon, written by Park Hoon-jung, and starring Choi Min-sik and Lee Byung-hun.The film's plot is almost the same as the Korean film, however the Korean film shows more graphic killing which the Indian Film Board would have censored and cut out immediately. If you have not seen the Korean film, I strongly suggest you see it.Mohit Suri is going to become one of India's most acclaimed directors, because his sense of direction is top-notch and his style is that of a professional Hollywood director. I prefer his films to that of Rohit Shetty, Anurag Kashyap or even Farhan Akhtar. This guy is light-years ahead of them. And what's impressive is that Suri is mastering his technique with each project given to him. Having enjoyed Suri's Woh Lamhe, Awarapan and Aashiqui 2, I was in eager anticipation of his next film. In terms of entertainment value, this film will not disappoint you. The photography is brilliant, the cast is excellent and the songs are well choreographed and melodious. Sidharth Malhotra, Riteish Deshmukh and Shobha Kapoor put in good performances.I would no show this film to persons under the age of 18. This film is an adult thriller and should not be watched as a family with children present. Plot of the film: A man in a hood murders a young woman, Aisha Verma (Shraddha Kapoor) with a screwdriver and throws her out the window, after breaking into her house. At her funeral, a CBI officer, Aditya Rathore (Shaad Randhawa), points out to the police, that it is vital to track down the murderer or else Guru (Sidharth Malhotra), Aisha's husband, would go on a killing spree. It's up to Guru to find out who killed his wife before Aditya finds and arrests him.Watch the film to find out what happens next.Verdict: I'm a sucker for serial-killer flicks no matter how many times they are remade. I give it a score of 8/10. I would have give full 10/10 had it not been copied from another film.More films you may also like: Dushman 1998, Sangharsh 1999, Samay: When Time Strikes, Kaun?
