Best movie ever!
A Masterpiece!
This is definitely not the worst movie I have seen in recent years. Thrillers are always slow paced and you get the answers at the end. I haven't seen many that weren't like that. They can be confusing and annoying to people who prefer action movies or straight horror. This was not a horror movie. All the horror was in the mind of the female protagonist. About half way through I started to piece together the call the male lead made at the beginning. I thought the music was fine and helped to give the idea of suspense so that you wouldn't figure out she was imagining almost everything. I doubt she was calling anyone on the phone, perhaps her doctor or boyfriend. If they explained that I didn't catch it. She was poisoned which I figured out early on and having delusions. The locals were trying to coax her to go back with her boyfriend who she had rejected in favor of her delusions, but they couldn't get near enough to talk to her. She became very paranoid. Ergot poisoning was debilitating and often ended in death. It wasn't like a normal break with reality it was a very physical manifestation elicited by the poisoning. The actors plying the two main characters were not newbies and especially the boyfriend. I saw no problem with the acting. Some of the shots made the movie a little confusing but otherwise it was straight forward and people should have caught on when Paul and his friend kept showing up out of nowhere. I feel this one has gotten a bad wrap but if you don't like mysterious slow paced thrillers by all means, don't watch this movie. I personally like them and to see how they spin in the end. The author obviously had knowledge of the ergot poisoning theories in regard to witchcraft trials, especially the one at Salem Village. I personally intend on watching it a second time to see if I pick up details I missed. No I don't know the actors, the studio or writer.
The Secret Village will go down on my list of the worst movies I have ever watched. What an utter waste of time. It makes absolutely no sense, is not in the least scary, has horrible acting, horrible directing, horrible soundtrack and is absolute crap. Don't believe any of the good reviews, they were obviously written by retards. I can't believe I wasted 90 minutes of my life (which I will never get back) on this shite. I wish I had ergot poisoning after watching this wretch. I don't understand why people waste so much money and time making movies that are this bad. I wish I had read reviews of this before I watched it.
Well Directed by Mr. Kandan and acted well throughout by Faulkner and her mysterious roommate Greg (VAN WILDER: FRESHMAN YEAR's Jonathan Bennett), the likability of these actors was enough for me to go with the flow of this tale, which never shows its cards until the very end. The ending was such a huge unexpected and a surprising turning point, and if you're paying close attention, it'll all make sense. So if you're the type who likes to keep the suspense in a thriller till the end, 'THE SECRET VILLAGE' will be your type of thriller. The wonderful scenery and the calm location in the movie is great. This is a thriller that you can watch with the whole family because there are no severe violence in any of the scenes. The director has done a wonderful job in maintaining the thrilling momentum throughout the movie but still has not shown any severe violence in the movie.
The movie was a good watch. It started off well and ended very well. It seemed a little slow and confusing in the middle, but had a chilling suspense throughout.Location was beautiful and seemed to be a good vacation spot for fall. The movie urged the interest to read on ergot poisoning, It was not a horror movie and there was no explanation on the hooded characters as well. The ending scene though nice, seemed a little short and abrupt. It could have been slightly longer as it is still in mind.Overall, I liked the movie and the end twist.
