I saw a DVD release of this, and technically it's not a master-piece (sound, image and editing), but content-wise it's one of the first movies in a long (looong) time that gets close to having the same excellent spirit that is in the old "nightmare on elm street" films :) Sure, it's not at all similar, in terms of story, but it just has that special something that makes it very enjoyable to watch.Great cast :) The movie could easily have been longer. In fact it should have been, since there were some scenes that seemed to come out of the blue (Benny and the popcorn-girl scene, for example) like something was edited out. It's quite obvious that this is a pilot to a serial, rather than made to be just a standalone film. But if you love the show, getting the backstory is very pleasing. In the show there are many references to past events, but in the film we finally (I saw the serial before the film, so everything is chronologically reverse for me) see these things happen :) It's fun, it'll make you smile, it's friendly, and it's even a bit scary at times :) All in all a keeper you can easily watch more than once :) (I just wish it was released on bluray though, and with as good sound-quality as the show has when broadcast on Disney-channel. The DVD is sub-standard technically so that's why I give it 7 out of 10. The like-factor is higher)

The film is by no means a masterpiece. The story is rather ridiculous, the violence is almost non existent and, besides being with vampires, it is completely not horror. However, it is really fun. It reminds me of the original 1985 Fright Night film, only for children and with a lot of sci-fi and horror references. While it is not perfect, it has the potential to become a classic, as the child actors were decent, the production values as well and the people that took part of the project were clearly having a lot of fun filming it.And there is also a series! I haven't watched it yet, but I am willing to bet it will be fun as well. Go, Canada!

I personally love this film I have watched it many time with my friends i also love the TV show! The movie is actually incredible though. I could watch it again and again! It is unique, some people say just cause it's vampires it must be like twilight but it's not! They even make a obvious joke about twilight anyway. It's such a good film. I am actually about to just watch it again! I would recommend this film to everyone who likes any Disney channel movies or anything from Disney channel! It is funny, and intense! I am In love with this film and I have no idea what more to say Except WOW.

The Disney Studios created Wizards Of Waverly Place to take advantage of the Harry Potter popularity, but for their answer to the popularity of the Twilight books they only had to import this film and the series that it spawned from Canada. This film stars Matthew Knight and Atticus Dean Mitchell as a pair of nerd type high school kids who see a lot of strange things going on at their school. But they've got some more immediate and humiliating problems to deal with, at least Knight does. For going out and leaving his little sister unattended his parents decide that he and the sister need a babysitter. But when teen dream Vanessa Morgan shows up, in the words of Shakespeare she's a WOW. But it also turns out that Vanessa is a newly bitten vampire who has to drink some human blood and soon to cement her status among the undead. But where there's one vampire there are many in their middle sized Canadian suburb. There's a huge plot brewing by head teen vampire Joe Dinicol to raise some souls from way back in the counter reformation days when at that time he was a pastor of a church that practiced the black arts. But it also turns out that Mitchell and Knight have some hidden inherited talents that makes it possible for them to fight the vampires here and in the TV series.I have to say that the best role in the film is that played by Cameron Kennedy who is their cheerfully geek type friend Rory. Even after Rory becomes a full fledged vampire, he neither acquires any social graces or really gets into the vampire scene. He stays friends with Knight and Mitchell and gets the best lines and scenes in the film.My Babysitter's A Vampire is a pleasant and amusing enough made for television film which should spawn a series with a decent run of a few years on the Disney Channel here.
