To me, this movie is perfection.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

The film opens with aliens killing humans and then we flash back to before the attack. Dave (Blake Webb) has a female boss and works a lot. His wife Amy (Tatum Langton) who has put her career on hold feels alienated. They are on the verge of breaking up. Dave has to fly to Denver for business with a loner friend who feels alienated at the end of the world. When things hit the fan, David attempts to get back to Amy as she awaits for him. Yes, two minutes ago they were going to divorce, now they can't imagine spending their last seconds on earth with someone else. He encounters a farmer that feels alienated and people who just stand there and don't move as they feel alienated. I think we got the theme.The film uses various flashback techniques, including flashbacks within flashbacks and running scenes over again. It proved to be confusing in a film that was otherwise boring lacking alien attack scenes that one might expect peeking at cover art.There have been various end of the world films that were used to demonstrate aspects of the human psyche. In fact all good end of times movies do that to some degree. However when you use it to near exclusion of all science fiction, you need to have an "A" game and headliners. This film didn't have any of that. It was simply boring. No swearing, sex, or nudity.Note to self: When leaving the house is a bad idea. Stay inside.

Thanks must go to those earlier reviewers who mentioned being pleasantly surprised. They convinced me to give this tidy little film the 15-minute test. It drew me and kept me in, to the point that I went back and re-watched those first 15 after the final credits, to spot any subtleties I'd missed by not knowing the characters then.A few elements that will put off any viewers looking for a fun night of watching aliens take over the world:a long wait for the aliens to be seen, and then they're not exotic, quite low-brow in fact. - complex shifting back and forth in time between two couples' pasts and present - sparse dialogue that plays thematically with the title's meaning - the emotional tone of all the characters is disturbingly realistic rather than pumped up for quick thrills.Definitely not a waste of the time spent watching.

the entire cast was sleepwalking through this turkey. It rates right up there with Plan 9 From Outer Space for really bad scifi. I have to type in five lines or they won't publish the review. How many ways can I say yuck, boring, terrible, a total waste of time and money to view it, and about a hundred other similar words. If you can't sleep, this is the cure.

When it comes to 'student' movies, this is probably one of the best near misses I've seen in a long time. There are so many technical aspects which are spot on that the total failure of the cast, the writer and the director to deliver any sort of a avenue for the viewer to make a personal connection with a humanity under such conditions is strangely forgivable. There is absolutely no 'take away' from this movie; no arguments as to the puerility of it's premise; no chuckled observations regarding the crudeness of it's special effects; no insider elbow in the ribs regarding it's subtext. This is certainly a better creation than most of what is offered on the SyFy network... and much better than a Stargate episode... but it definitely lacks one simple element that those platforms routinely present... an actor. Any actor!.. and not even a great actor, just somebody who wasn't obviously working at the mall mere moments before they were 'discovered' to be "cute and willing to work for free" enough to be in this movie! Of course, that's harsh. In truth a contingent of untrained 'mall rats' would have been far more entertaining.But still, the movie isn't bad... it's just not really anything.
