Overrated and overhyped
Good movie but grossly overrated
Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
I had no idea Alyssa Milano's boobs were so nice. How could I've known? I'd never seen 'em before! I want to be with them.Embrace of the Vampire is one of the great American nude flicks with an also great American nude actress, the beautiful and the lovely and the talented Alyssa Milano. I love Alyssa Milano. She is so incredibly beautiful. She's so hot! I mean some girls in movies on screen are hot and off screen are hot as well but Alyssa Milano is like even hotter than other really hot actresses and even more super sweet on and off the screen. Holy mother, Alyssa Milano is the one for me, you guys. I love you, Alyssa! She's the best. Turns out, she's the boss, too. This B-movie came out in 1995? Why does it feel like it came out in the 16th century? The 16th century with telephones and cameras and modern-day lighting. Oh, and vampires are in it, too! This more than just entertaining skin pic is very good, very quality, nice and erotic, quite hypnotic and super seductive, intensely lustful, really cheesy, and very, very popular. And it's not all these things because of Mr. Kemp, except for the really cheesy part. Just playing. It's because of Alyssa Milano, dude! She's freaking bad! She's really, freaking bad.
This film was a gift from God to those of us who grew up crushing on Alyssa Milano in Who's the Boss. This is, obviously, a pretty awful flick. I'd always assumed it was made directly for Cinemax. But it is amusingly awful and, Hell, say what you want about the rest of it, but it's actually super hot. Milano is drop-dead gorgeous and there are plenty of other beautiful naked women all over the place. The vampire who stalks her (Martin Kemp) is hilariously awful. His terribleness keeps the movie light and funny, which it doesn't want to be but it'd probably be far less tolerable otherwise. I wish I had recorded a few more of his lines, but right from the beginning we get juicy nuggets like "I'll destroy anything that gets in my way, even my heart, if need be!" Everything he says is overwritten and over acted, often behind a really dumb looking leather vest. So, yes, a bad movie, but I quite like it.
I saw this since I had been looking for some more decent vampire movies and this had been recommended to me as having a good story and being erotic. Neither could be further from the truth.I had no previous knowledge of Alyssa Milano and I don't think I'll have much more after this. Her role as the coy, sheltered convent girl coming of age in a college after the forced desires of her otherwordly vampire lover is hackneyed and boring. It could have been good if it had been at all done well but every part is played with such flatness and lack of conviction that it's embarrassing. And then you have the vampire himself, Martin Kemp - from EastBenders and Spandau Ballet fame... the combination is just too cringeworthy for me to recall. As for the erotic moments, well, Alyssa does get some of her kit off and then the focus goes soft, the music starts and the whole thing is about as sexy as watching Carry On Camping slowed down. Just when things start to get slightly steamy, such as the only mildly erotic moment between her and a female photographer, the scene ends and we have another long shot of the college the next day. The most laughable bit is the 'orgy' at the end when most of the girls and guys are still clothed, Alyssa does a bit of ogling, bites her lip for the thousandth time and leaves. All in all, if you're looking for an erotic vampire film or a vampire film of any decent sorts - avoid this one. It's 'late night Dawsons Creek' style of photography and insipid story - not to mention emotional content - makes it a thorough waste of 90 minutes. If you want a really quality vampire film watch Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders or Daughters Of Darkness, but steer clear of this tripe.
Um... Did anyone else find Martin Kemp's performance as a vampire weak and scary in a bad way?? I'm not talking about jumping out of my seat with horror scary either. I wanted to laugh actually and I'm pretty sure some others did too. I'm so used to seeing Martin Kemp playing Steve in Eastenders that I practically fell off my chair with laughter when I saw that he was 'Vampified'.Also, does anyone know where I can get a song from the film from? I liked a song called 'One Desire' by Claudia Kaleem and I can't seem to find it. Not to mention that she seems non-existent! Her voice is quite beautiful and the lyrics grabbed my attention from the first moment I heard them. i am quite anxious to find the song, even if I have to buy the soundtrack to the film or even the film itself! Please help me! I am not putting the film down or anything because if you look really hard at the actual film, you can see a quite romantic storyline but it needs quite a bit of work.
