Memorable, crazy movie
Did you people see the same film I saw?
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
i guess this movie is about loss and deficiency that could never be filled with anything. This is typical subject so it is really important how to make a story without leaving a familiar impression. Like I said, it is familiar to me. Because I have read some short s stories reminiscent of this movie. The images of fishes and ocean reminds me of " legend of suicide" written by David Vann and the story of babysitting the baby who does not exist, A short story of William Trevor which I can't remember the name of. So this movie has beautiful scenes and I like watching it but there is no impression on it. And I cannot actually feel sadness for Emmanuel or Linda
A movie with an unusual flavor and with an original theme: the friendship between a young girl, troubled by the loss of her mother, and a woman who is troubled by the loss of her daughter. The film has a very special atmosphere and the acting is very good throughout. The script isn't 100% tight. There are scenes that never lead anywhere (like the scenes with the step-mom suspecting a lesbian relationship between her stepdaughter and the neighbour). The poetic/metaphoric under water scenes seem a bit out of place, and there is also some clumpsy editing. It's easy to forgive these minor flaws though, thanks to the great acting and a touching, original story.
5 stars for the stunning actresses and one for being ingenious. There is so much potential between the two main characters to develop an intimate relationship (which was also hinted on by the stepmother). But then the movie lifts the obvious awkwardness into the realm of the realistic, destroying the ingenuity and art of the script. Making it just like any other movie.Personally I believe they should just give up on conveying new ideas for the purpose of mainstream entertainment. It just doesn't work. Either you do something great and many will not comprehend it, or you do something average and many will empathize. If the directors had any sense of mainstream creativity, they would have simply cloned the actresses. Like in the Resident Evil series. Many Milla Jovovich > one Milla Jovovich. Many Jessica Biel > one Jessica Biel. It is basic algebra. Though, the main character girl looked pretty attractive too, but the stepmother not really. At least there could be twins. I mean, come on!
An annoying 17 year old girl, whose mother died giving birth to her, comes across her new neighbour, a 31 year old stunning brunette who has a young baby, and who appears to be without a husband, boyfriend or any man in her life. The young girl develops an obsession for her hot neighbour. BUT IT'S NOT WHAT YOU THINK.It should be that. Lesbian lust, but it isn't.Instead the girl stumbles across the neighbour's secret which she feels she must stop others knowing about.A rather plodding drama that starts off well, then loses its way midway through. The ending could have been good, but instead we're treated to a rather unrealistic finale.Only 5/10 from me.
