Am i the only one who thinks........Average?
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Solid enough horror flick, if you can forgive a rather implausible premise.Yes yes, men are bad, men imprison women in domestic hell they call "marriage" and burden them with children. We are very sorry. To compensate for generations of such treatment, men have invented (among everything else we invented, ie, everything) an elegant solution called "MGTOW", which is basically bachelorhood with a philosophy behind it. Look it up, it's a thing now.So one fine day, women will stop complaining about being burdened with motherhood and so forth, and begin complaining about men not approaching them for marriage anymore. Oh look, "where have all the good men gone," an op-ed in today's paper. It has begun.Reverse the genders in this film and you've got the truer picture: women enslave men, not the other way around.Anyway, yeah, it was a fun enough flick and pretty stylishly done, if you can ignore the agenda.
Wow, this was the biggest piece of trash. And the reviews on here are hysterical. "Oh this a brilliant piece of feminism vs the patriarchy." Spare me, this is just a really laughably horribly bad film about absolutely nothing. Guy kidnaps a woman running free raised by dogs (not a cartoon FYI) and keeps her in a barn where he forces his family to take care of her while he predictably rapes her, impregnates his daughter, beats his wife and raises a reprobate son. All this in a slow pace with horrific loud lousy music and amateur production. I was laughing at the end of this. Cave woman gets to go back to the woods with the now found and released dog lady and they take the little girl. Anyone trying to justify this or seeing anything more to this trash probably likes a modern painting that looks like a three year old scribbled for an hour. Pretentious fools also buy those for insane amounts of money and wax poetic about the meaning but in the end it is just trash no one is willing to call out as trash.
There are flaws a-plenty in "The Woman", beginning with the fact that the title itself is unbelievably uninteresting, and that's part of the reason why it's taken me so long to view this flick despite the fact I've had it in my collection for years. All around, the acting was good. I could've done without the hipster soundtrack, though. It just didn't fit the scenes, not to mention the bulk of the tracks were supposedly being emitted from a 7 year old girl's Raggedy Ann radio. As revenge films go, this one is as brutal as others in the genre, including High Tension, I Spit On Your Grave and Lady Vengeance. The father in the movie seemed like one of those "All praises to God! Holier Than Thou! Blessed Be His Name!" practitioners. I wish that element was brought out more to expose just how hypocritical these people can be. Anyway, this wasn't a total waste of 90+ minutes. Could've been better, could've been worse. Not as violent as several reviews would have you believe, however.
This is not a film for the weak stomached. It took me some strength to make it to the end. The use of sound in this film is very effective and the brutality will stay will me. Im despairing at humans right now with a disgusted look stained on my face. Take warning, nothing in this film will make you feel hopeful, happy or relaxed. Its violent and disgusting. I need some serious Disney therapy after this powerfully brutal film. I am violeted in every single way and need cuddles! No wonder I had a gut feeling about watching this, i put it off for weeks and weeks and now i wish i had trusted myself. Effective film. horryfying and eternally shocking.
