Good concept, poorly executed.
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
There is plenty of atmosphere, brutal violence, tension and thrills for everyone and the hyped up soundtrack keeps things moving along nicely. The cinematography is breathtaking, the camera work is exceptional, and the lighting is expertly used to create many different moods. Nadia Fares (The crimson rivers, War) who really sells this movie though. Her characters transition throughout Storm Warning is totally believable and the way in which her character eventually fights back leads to some brilliant scenes that will both surprise and entertain you. Watch out for the scene/decision of Pia, when she learns that she will be raped. Storm Warning is extremely graphic and disturbing. This movie is an awesome thriller with superb acting. It is very atmospheric and is never a dull moment. A brutal survival backwoods thriller. Directed by Jamie Blanks (Urban legend, Valentine).
Excellent cinematography, amazing sets, terrific acting and a pace that goes right for the juggler vein. I love backwoods/survival type horror especially films from foreign countries like Australia. I think this film is tantamount or even slightly better than wolf creek. Storm Warning is extremely graphic and disturbing but it picks its spots nicely and doesn't feel gratuitous. Our backwoods family is kick-ass bad and just wait until papa is introduced, the apples don't fall far from the tree to say the least. Anyway anyone who states that realistic disturbing horror films are a thing of the past, tell them to check out storm warning. I am sure they will change their mind.
The lawyer Rob (Robert Taylor) and his French wife Pia (Nadia Farès) rent a small motor boat to spend the day fishing at the sea. In the end of the day, Rob decides to steer the boat through marsh islands but they become lost and stranded while a storm is coming.Rob decides to walk with Pia to find a shelter and they reach a dilapidated house with no one home. Rob also finds a decrepit greenhouse with a plantation of marijuana. Out of the blue, three rednecks arrive in the place and the abusive and deranged brothers Jimmy (David Lyons) and Brett (Mathew Wilkinson) point shotguns to them and torture Rob and Pia while their father "Poppy" (John Brumpton) goes to his room to rest. The couple soon realizes that Pia will be raped by the sadistic and they will be killed after and they decide to fight back."Storm Warning" is a brutal and gore slasher with an unoriginal storyline that surprisingly works well, supported by great direction and performances and excellent cinematography, special effects and camera work. The decision of Pia, when she learns that she will be raped by the rednecks, is the best moment of this highly recommended film. My vote is seven.Title (Brazil): "Aviso de Tempestade" ("Storm Warning")
(Small spoiler)I start of with the plot Revolves around a couple that becomes lost in a massive storm and seek refuge at a nearby farmhouse, only to be captured by deranged killers. As two couple soon found out there lives are in danger,I felt sorry for them at first and cared for them until the women kills there dog after they were attacking her boyfriend, why kill the dog, what did the do dog to killed, after I did not care for them and I Wish she was killed, I hated her for killing a dog and I was killer side in this movie. There was not much else I can say about this movie as there wasn't much going on in this movie until the last ten minutes or so.And those scenes had some really funny gory deaths, After that the movie ended way too fast for me, I asked my self "it that it? 4 out of 10
