When the body of the executive of hockey Benoit Brisset is found on the billboard of the border of Quebec and Ontario, the jurisdiction of the crime is shared between the two police forces and detectives David Bouchard from Montreal and Martin Ward from Toronto are assigned to work together. With totally different styles, attitudes and languages.

Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Canada's two solitudes meet when 'by-the-book' English Toronto cop (Colm Feore) and 'loose cannon' French Montreal cop (Patrick Huard) are assigned to investigate a border-straddling (literally) murder. The plot revolves around hockey and the script is liberally laced with 'inside jokes' about the NHL, which are pretty funny but you'd need to follow the sport to get a lot of the humour. The leads are good, although the characters are pretty much 'buddy-cop' standards, as is the secondary cast (although even more 'standard'), but the situations that they find themselves in, and their responses to which, are exaggerated to the point of being almost a parody of the genre. Ironically, Rick Mercer, who often makes fun of American's miscomprehensions of Canada has a bit part in a film that essentially is one long string of Canadian stereotypes. The films may seem clever and well written to viewers who 'get' the hockey jokes, but viewers who don't may find it somewhat predictable, obscure, and silly.
This film is such an amateurish attempt at film-making. The acting is bad, and not because of the actors but because of the script and the direction. The editing is shoddy at best. The film keeps going off to tangents that end up being irrelevant. The script is filled with clichés, but instead of making an exploitation out of them, they are just presented dried and predictable. There's too many pointless fist fights and not enough plot. It's a flick centering on catching a serial killer. We are never shown clearly what the serial killer wants, beyond a generic "he just hates this people". It's supposed to be a comedy but it rarely makes any sort of joke beyond some childish slapstick or ironic twist (e.g. this character only swears in french, but at then end he swears in English). It's like the people who made this agreed on an idea, but never agreed on what kind of film it was supposed to be. Or they sat around a table writing down what they thought would be cool scenes and just mixed them all together in a mess. It's disjointed and without hardly any satisfying conclusions to all the story lines it's trying to follow. You'll have some fun, it's not the worst thing ever made, but you'll likely get bored halfway. If you do get bored but want to stick through to the end, my advice is don't. Just forget you ever saw it and go watch something more worthwhile.
Indeed the best movie ever! I never seen any comedy film as sophisticated and creative as this one. The linguistic comedy is excellent, and also add a new variety as opposed to the usual English lame jokes found in comedy films nowadays. The acting of the two primary roles is well performed, almost flawlessly. Furthermore, the storyline is well planned and is executed with careful precision by the actors. Simply put, the film is an excellent blend of thriller and comedy in which the two genres don't discredit the film while running simultaneously. This movie is the watershed for Canadian films in the future. On a side note, I suggest Canada should make its own Hollywood (pioneered by Canadians (do some research)), but this time in Canada. This new Hollywood should be the centre of high quality movies (in terms of plot, acting, setting, etc) in which Bon Cop Bad Cop is the epitome of platinum standard movies.A must watch movie for people from anywhere across the globe!
It was great, I just can't tell you how much time I laughed with my friends while watching this movie when I rented it. I thought at first it was going to suck (most Canadians movies have let me down...a lot), but it's completely fast paced after the first 5 minutes and the cultural jokes were fantastic! The cultural jokes weren't any supped up Scary Movies ones where you'd only get a 1 second chuckle, they were laugh out louds ones. The story is quite interesting and never feels to fall flat, since it was a detective comedy, I expected it to be very weak in terms of a detective movie, but it was still somewhat strong and kept you interested in the mystery. Also, I don't recall one minute feeling somewhat asleep out of boredom.Unfortunately, I'm someone who lives in Quebec and I'll have to say, most people out of Canada (maybe even out out Quebec) won't fully understand the jokes all too well, which will somewhat bring this movie to a mediocre level in humor, since most jokes are cultural. But never the less, if you're someone who lives in Canada or at least know some pop-culture here, than make no mistake, this should be a must watch.
