A waste of 90 minutes of my life
a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Cargo is a great effort. The first science fiction film made in Switzerland by first time directors. The first thing you notice are the amazing sets and look of the film. This is how CGI should be- seamlessly blending in, to an extent you cannot differentiate between what is real and what is computerized. The story is set aboard a spaceship in the future and it is obvious that the filmmakers have been heavily inspired by the likes of Alien and 2001 ASO and the story itself is more cerebral than most science fiction films which are usually categorized as horror or action. Regardless, you should watch Cargo at any cost if you like a good science fiction film.
Swiss sci-fi yarn. Earth is uninhabitable yadda yadda. Nah. Skip.
First, i am huge sci-fi fan and i like to look up low budget movie like this and enjoy it. This movie had decent albeit many times recycled storyline and the set up isn't bad at all.But boy the acting is...especially the female lead ..she is not even trying! Overall the first part of movie there is too little conversation even when you simply have to say something but they don't?! I assume the silence should build up some kinda suspense but it doesn't,it feels empty like the characters cant even react in normal way....i was really struggling no to turn the movie off at that point. It gets slightly better in second half but there is too much nonsense going on in general to make it better. I wouldn't recommend this movie mainly due to poor acting but also terrible plot holes.
"Cargo" is a Swiss movie from over 5 years ago written and directed by Ivan Engler and Ralph Etter. Both are certainly no prolific filmmakers, neither before nor after this film, so it comes to me as a bit of a surprise that I quite enjoyed the watch. Science fiction usually is not my genre, but I liked the idea here of a fictitious reality and even if it's mostly displayed as something bad, you could still argue if it's maybe even something good as the people living in it appeared happy mostly. Or did they? The lead actress is Anna Katharina Schwabroh and what I said about the two directors also applies to her. She is a prolific actress, but mostly only in theater productions and not in movies. I thought this was also a good watch from the visual perspective and does not have to hide behind the competition from Hollywood, where science fiction also seems to become an appreciated genre again with recent blockbusters "Gravity", "Interstellar" and "The Martian". Thumbs up for the people who made this 100-movie here and recommend it. Almost a must-see if you love the genre.
