Miles buys himself a state-of-the-art computer that starts expressing thoughts and emotions after having champagne spilled on it. Things start getting out of hand when both Miles and Edgar, the computer, fall in love with Madeline, an attractive neighbor.

To me, this movie is perfection.
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Yo, there's no way for me to review this film without saying, take your *insert ethnicity + "ass" here* to see this film,like now. You have to see it in order to know what you're really messing with.
It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
'Electric Dreams' isn't the sort of film I'd usually watch, but I was drawn to it for a few reasons. The first was Lenny von Dohlen - I'd only known him as Harold from 'Twin Peaks', and thought he was a peculiar choice for a lead role. The second was Virginia Madsen; I'm not too familiar with much of her work, but I watched 'Candyman' a few months ago and thought she was a brilliant actress. Neither of these two performers disappoint in 'Electric Dreams'. The writing is a little hit-and-miss, especially when the computer begins to acquire a personality. It isn't as detrimental as it could have been, though, due to the film's lightheartedness. This was director Steve Barron's first feature project and the only film he directed in the '80s - he spent most of the decade directing music videos for the likes of Bryan Adams, A-ha and even Michael Jackson. The director's background will make a lot of sense when you watch 'Electric Dreams' -- if you're expecting something quite cerebral like Spike Jonze's 'Her', you'll be disappointed.
When I first watched this I was thinking like short circuit this film Would be you know a real family comedy It wasn't its can be rather dark at times yes there's some funny moments And there's the ending which I thought was funny and sweet but There was more then a few dark moments without giving anything away The way the computer tries to destroy his life how it messes with his credit cards Personal details now why it may of seen over the top in the 80s I mean a computer running ever appliance in your house and controlling Your life today it really has a creep factor to it A creep factor due to our strong dependency on computers This movie could almost be a true story lol
This movie is about an architect living in San Francisco that buys a computer to help organize his life. Thanks to a unwanted computer overload and champagne spillage develops a mind of its own. This results in havoc between Miles and his neighbor Madeline who develop a relationship. Soon the three are involved in a love triangle between man, woman and machine. This movie a great soundtrack with Culture Club and Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder0. The films style has a zippy pace and feels like watching a long music video. This aspect of the film hasn't dated, however some of the technology has which is fun to look back and view. Overall, this is a lovable romantic computer fantasy and has a soft spot in my heart.
I'm not into hate comments, but this time I had to. I mean I even watched Megalodon till the end to be sure my rating would be based on the whole film. At first I thought 2 would be okay because the lead actress is hot and the song during the credits is fine, but then the film is too weak to deserve a 2 (even a 1 to be honest).This film officially ranks as one (THE ONE) of the worst films I have ever seen, from dreadful acting, abysmal plot... of course the most dreadful of all this is Edgar's abilities, I mean the premises of a lot of science fiction films are easier to believe than that.Don't watch, don't rent, don't allow anyone to watch it, even if you hate them.
