Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
The first must-see film of the year.
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
This is one of these movies who never reached cinemas or even local TV channels.I'll be honest, I initially got the movie because of Sasha Grey and watched it 2017. Movie is from 2014 for reference. Sasha stared for 2 minutes total. I know there is a bigger and deeper story behind this movie but I just don't like it. It's a story for a girl with serious mental disorder who goes into the tower with the highest suicidal rate to live with other people with mental disorders. Random stuff happens all the time and no one remembers nothing. There are talking dogs, elevators and other talking objects. Total no sense.*random people getting electrocuted all the time*The movie is dark, not like a dark "dark", just the picture is dark. Directors love to make dark movies in order to use less visuals. But there is plenty of visuals at later point. The effects remind me of the movies from late 90's. So at the end some of the patients of the tower become superheroes lead by their disorders and there is a fight. I didn't paid much attention here since I was totally bored to death from the first 1 hour movie. If you have epilepsy don't watch this movie. If you have some weird fetishes (or want to have some weird fetishes) you have to watch THIS right now!
What can I say about this movie that "wow" won't sum up. This is a great movie with amazing pacing and interesting characters. The setting is dirty and broken, and the supporting cast is too. The story follows the life of Sookie as she tells the tail of what happened upon moving into an assisted living apartment in order to transition back into regular life. This story will draw you in and keep you watching from beginning to end. The movie is adapted from a graphic novel of the same name, but having not read it I can't say if this movie followed the source material well.I can say that some detail was put into doing a little research on the mental illnesses shown in the movie. It's not perfect in it's depiction, but close enough to suspend disbelief. This is a must see if you like sci-fi suspense, and creative characters.
Another picture that had way more potential than its final product. When a young woman with dissociative identity disorder is brought to some kind of madhouse, people start killing themselves for no apparent reason. With a bunch of eccentric characters and a visual style that provokes Sin City comparisons, this comic book adaptation will certainly entertain people and capture their attention till the last minute. Unfortunately it all feels a bit rushed, bloated and shallow. With b-listers like Garret Dillahunt, Gina Gershon, Kunal Nayyar, Billy Campbell and Richard Riehle, this movie has some fun acting and prevents from feeling amateuristic, but in the end it's just too much a "been there, seen that" movie...
Intelligent movies are a rare breed. Generally films about twisted minds disintegrate into horrible 'thriller/horror' clichés. It's refreshing to see a film that so purely encompasses a highly intelligent but damaged mind. Agreed that not everyone will like this film. It doesn't make them stupid, but the film will always be appreciated by those who can recognize how twisted a mind becomes when you see the world from a diametrically opposite view to 'normal'.I won't go into the details, but believe me, if you liked sucker punch then you will absolutely love this.Layers upon layers of characters, every scene, every background music resonates with literary genius! I am just sad that the movie ended, and that I might not see another one Luke this for a long time.
