It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.

Pretty good movie a thriller not a horror, kept me entertained however I'll never look at Bill Engvall the same. Not a role I expected from a comedian but he played it pretty well.

In "The Neighbor", a young couple involved in dealing drugs notices the rather strange behavior of their new neighbor, who seems to hide some secrets on his wide-spread farm. When they begin to investigate, things soon take a turn to the worse as they find themselves trapped in a net of violence and domination.As you may have already noticed, this movie had some prominent role models. In fact, in many aspects it is just another shot at the same plot that "Disturbia" already remodelled. So this will clearly not win any award for creativity or innovation. This said, the film actually delivers a very solid performance. It creates a lot of tension, it makes you feel uneasy and it does make you cheer for the lead characters. At some points in my eyes it wanted a bit too much, some of the aspects are never fully explained or seem rather implausible, but all in all since the movie doesn't try to be something it isn't, that's not something too bad. I wouldn't say that it is the best shot at this story, but it takes it over without bigger mistakes.All in all if you see this as a thriller, there's really not much to complain about. It isn't creative and it's far from being deep, but as pure entertainment it works quite well.

Saw this on a pirated 50 rupees DVD. A very good thriller. Period. I saw the trailer on you tube while going thru horror movie trailers. I added it to my watchlist in my diary after knowing that Mark Dunstan (The collector 1 n 2) is the director n Josh Stewart is the lead actor. I m a big fan of these two. The movie is a lil slow in the beginning but the end result is very satisfying. One may say it's predictable but it is a straightforward basic thriller without the clichés found in most of the movies. No wasting time in chatting or dialogues, straight killing. "Ugly" from The Good, the bad n the ugly wud have been proud" for his no talk n shoot first. One more surprising thing in this movie was that the females were not shown as weak n stupid. Majority of the horror/thrillers got this stupid scene where after bashing the bad guy with jus one hit, the person starts chatting with the "tied up person" n instead of making sure that the bad guy is dead....... Glad that this movie doesn't hav that sorta stupid thing. The movie does hav lots of tension, suspense n brutal killings but no torture. Josh Stewart acted well. The guy is very likable inspite of his "dirty jobs". Very good direction by Dunstan. One of the best part was the background music. One may find it a lil similar to The Collector for its cat n mouse game, minus the traps. Good shot gun scenes. Good cinematography. Good editing. I hope they show more about the dirty job of the lead characters in the sequel.

I finished watching The neighbor a few minutes ago and as of now(September 2016) I am not able to find a Wikipedia page dedicated to this movie, while even worse movies have their own Wikipedia page. Anyway, I decided to watch this movie solely based on its IMDb rating. Ans was I pleasantly surprised! I felt this movie needs to be watched by more people which is why I decided to write a review. The first few minutes made me think it was going to be one of those movies with disappointing endings. But at half hour past the beginning, things began to turn and the ride got more and more exciting. Positives: - Does not have too much gore like many other thrillers have. But still keeps u at edge of seat.Strong female characters who are not just there for skin show and they are the kind who don't need a male knight in shining armor to save them as in many other thriller movies. Does not have moments where people torture each other or give a long speech before killing them(no wiggle room for someone who's at gunpoint)All the characters are grey characters. Not completely good or bad. Gives us chance to think who we are rooting for.Negatives: - Lacks character development which helps keep the movie shorterHad a weak start which can seem boring to some people.Overall, it's an enjoyable movie.
