Load of rubbish!!
When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
I wonder if Jack even existed. Since Dell wanted her to lie to him in his most vulnerable state it was necessary for her to create this big lie about Jack and her being pregnant to make him believe in love and save their future together. She made up the lie in the car on the way to the shooting range, but before she could tell the truth he broke up with her, saying he didn't love her, wondering if he ever did. Don't think she saw any reason to tell about the lie at that time. Time after that she had to stick to the story to have a chance to win him back. To make him realize.
First of all this movie can be said that is a Romantic Drama without being melodramatic and despite having some dialogues with comic elements, is not a comedy and because it has Cometa by title does not make him a Sci-Fi movie. Having said this, is a delight! A movie with interesting dialogues as a first work of this director and writer, the same that directed and wrote the series Mr. Robot, so acutely in the argument and dialogues of the present day problems. A film about the ephemeral love, about the difficulty of relationships, the unspoken words and that are said can never be unsaid, indecision before the result of infinities choices in the direction of our lives.
What an Gem, perfect. There aren't many movies where it's 99%, two characters talking that holds my attention and sounds real. It's was sort of like "Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (without the crazy) in dealing with the challenges of a modern romantic relationship. Justin Long is amazing. I don't understand why he's not a huge star. But, perhaps that's a good thing. His performance in "He's not that into you" was great he was the best thing about that movie. He may not be the typical leading man, but he has a soulful, honest quality that comes across.Emma Rossum was lovely. I've only seen her in "Shameless",which she is wonderful in. In this she hits all the right notes. It was written so well and the performances were so great. Just found it by chance on Netflix.
Whatever one was to say about this ambitious and often highly effective indie Sci-Fi/Romance, there's little doubting that Comet is one of the most visually striking and uniquely crafted films of recent memory and a hugely effective calling card for first time director and boyfriend of Emmy Rossum, Sam Esmail. While it would take some time to discover all the nuances and narrative conundrums of this original journey, Esmail's directional eye and way with words is something to behold, no better magnified by the fact that Comet really is a 90 minute conversation driven piece that is not dissimilar to a Woody Allen or Noah Baumbach film. From emotionally charged scenarios through to comical situations, Comet often masters a raft of different genres and it's musings on life, love and the plausibility of parallel dimensions is balanced to wonderful effect by Esmail. The film, as mentioned, carries a fantastically appealing visual flair, from strange framing, beautiful lighting and nice visual ticks Comet looks a treat, even more so when considering its low end budget. It's refreshing to see a filmmaker utilise the tools at his disposable and all the good work Esmail does with his screenplay and directional style would've come to naught had he struck out with his main actors but thankfully you'll find here arguably career best turns from Justin Long and Emmy Rossum. If Long's Dell and Rossum's Kimberly had failed to create a chemistry led spark, Comet would've been an exercise in artistic frustration but in these two relatable and often impressively created characters we have two humans that we can both relate to, enjoy and even dislike. It's a testament that both these actors keep the films narrative intact, even when things seem to be gathering steam towards an incomprehensible whole. With these two young actors at centre stage, Comet really becomes a memorable experience.Comet is enjoyable, moving and original and while not everything works completely within this high reaching dialogue driven outing, there is enough that clicks to make it one of the most accomplished directional debuts and romantically tinged movies of recent years. Something akin to a less whimsical 500 Days of Summer, come the films quietly beautiful finale, Comet is a film sure to impress all those who enjoy wordy and brain scratching character studies.3 1/2 Chinese food orders out of 5
