It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Many, many, MANY moons ago, I watched a deliciously weird movie from our Russians friends. I loved it, because the Russian bent is so unusual to the western mind. It was strange and exciting, although I never knew the the name of it. I have thought about it a number of times since, hoping I would catch it again, but never have. Still, this English overdubbed Russian movie has all the elements of that deliciously strange movie - strange cinematography, little snippets of weirdness so easy to miss and story elements that makes no effort to explain itself so you are forced to pay attention. I have finally found another wonderful piece of Russian weirdness that I haven't seen the likes of for years, and it was great fun. Something like what you would expect to see in an alternative cinema like the Dendy. What is even better is that this is a sequel, so I still have the original to look forward to. It's a little bit more sexual than I would prefer but such is the world of movies. The introduction of the beautiful Alyssa in the red sports car will blow you away! And the Russian penchant for realistic alternative history is also there. Great fun. Oh, and what is about? I guess you could call it a spy thriller or crime drama in the world of vampires. 'Nuff said. So if you are a fan of action and don't mind it mixed in with the strange and unusual, this is a must see.
OK. So let's get one thing straight first and foremost. Most of the time, when I see a horrible review, I am immediately intrigued. (I for one, love lifetime's made-for-TV movies from the 1990's. They are great-just great.) So I appreciate the camp movies, horribly acted movies or the "it's so bad, we've made it an honorary member of the movie club" film. But. . . . . I promise you. This is not a film you want to watch simply to defy my review. This was a hot pile of steaming mess. A hot steamy pile of messy mess that is awful. Just awful. First off, it was completely incoherent. Have any of you waited til the last minute to complete a project or do your homework? And when you go to turn it in and you look next to you and see your coworker's project or classmate's project and thought, "God. I really should have put more time and effort into giving mine the appearance of hard work?" -Anybody? Show of hands. A-ha. This is what happened here. The special effects superseded the need or possibly even the interest in creating a baseline for the movie's course. It was completely void of good acting, congrugent script writing, and furthermore, the "timeline" was WAY off. It didn't hold any integrity as a film. There was no backbone or "meat" to the story's purpose. It was truly fumbled together and the person who clipped all of these scenes together could have cared less or wanted to be sooooooooo far off in left field in an effort to attract attention, that he or she left that fu***** ball back on the field. Out of the game, my friends. I can usually muster up some compassion when rating movies and ultimately, I backpeddle, fearful of bad movie karma. LET ME TELL YOU, I'm willing to take whatever the Russian movie Gods want to throw at me because this was awful. Lastly, I find it difficult to believe that even Russians liked this film. And if they did, it was only because they were paid to be an extra in the film. Don't buy these positive reviews, people. I'm telling you-you will feel utterly betrayed and really. . . it will be like the Twilight Zone where you slowly back out of the room all the while keeping your eyes on the odd guy to your left.Usually, when I see a train wreck, I want to know the details. Not here. Don't care out the train went off track, we've already fired the conductor. Won't happen again. Gaaahhhd.
Anton Gorodetsky is in the night watch working with his lover Svetlana. He finds himself in the middle of an approaching conflict between the forces of the Light and the Dark due to his trying to destroy evidences against his son Yegor, who is in the dark side. His actions are a breech of the weak truce that keeps both the Day and Night Forces at peace. This is the sequel to Night Watch, a movie that I haven't watched and, after watching this film, I will never do.Day Watch is a moronic senseless and pretentious film, with mediocre and pedestrian acting, and good special effects. The movie is boring since the beginning, a long agony to watch through til the end. It is badly edited, with a poor direction of actors, a stupid script, and clichéd images. Day Watch is a collection of film sins that cannot be ignored, and that should be used in film schools to demonstrate what not to do when directing. The movie, and the director, could be excused if the movie was a low budget film with amateur actors but this is, instead, a Russian super-production with some good actors. Some bad movies really make you laugh, or at least they are entertaining, so at least you get something out of them. But this is not the case here, as the movie is pretentious and serious beyond belief even in those scenes that are supposed to be funny. One of the worse films I have seen for a long time. It is difficult to understand why such a stupid bad film has a rating of 6.5.The best thing about the film? The poster and the special effects.
A supernatural film that is the sequel to Night Watch. Anton (Konstantin Khabenskiy) is part of the forces of light, but his son Yegor (Dmitriy Martynov) has been captured by the forces of dark.He has to find a way to save him with letting his trainee Svetlana (Mariya Poroshina) know what is going on. He must find the Chalk of Fate.Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch, Wanted) gives us a film that is sometimes hard to follow, but never boring. Super CGI, and some things that I have never seen in a typical Hollywood movie. The Boss's (Vladimir Menshov) plan to protect Anton from the Dark Others was ingenious, to say the least. Glad Olga (Galina Tyunina) was so understanding. It does get very funny when Anton next gets together with Svetlana. But, of course, it doesn't work as planned, and Zavulon (Viktor Verzhbitskiy)the head of the Dark Others, goes after him. Boy, you have to watch out when this guy gets p*ssed! Things continue to get strange, as you would expect in a supernatural film.It is easy to see why Timur Bekmambetov was selected to direct Wanted, and why he will be back in Wanted 2, and Twilight Watch (Night Watch 3).
