Trailer Synopsis Cast

When he is suspended from his university job for his outlandish ideas, Professor John Venkenheim leads a documentary film crew to the rim of the Arctic Circle in a desperate effort to vindicate his academic reputation. His theory: Mary Shelley's ghastly story, "Frankenstein," is, in fact, a work of non-fiction disguised as fantasy. In the vast, frozen wilderness, Venkenheim and his team search for the legendary monster, a creature mired in mystery and drenched in blood. What they find is an unspeakable truth more terrifying than any fiction...a nightmare from which there is no waking.

In a high-rise apartment young parents Alex and Mahsa live with their seven-year-old daughter Mina. Everything about the family is completely normal, uncomfortably real: Their home, their jobs, her school, the way they hold and love each other. The line between fact and fiction is blurred because THEY ARE A REAL family. Until completely normal turns into what they fear the most. Alex's injury opens the door to a malevolent force that attacks and dismantles the family one person at a time: A violent aggressor determined to prove that possession is real, unconscionably disturbing and very different from how it's depicted in the movies.

Puppets live alongside humans peacefully, but suddenly their behavior becomes depraved. Is such criminal activity rare, or is the media blowing things out of proportion, making cops look like sadistic gunslingers and causing people to distrust them, each other, and most of all, puppets. Is the apocalypse coming, or is the fear-mongering just a great way for News programs to get advertising money? Wait – that makes this movie sound like a serious allegory. Change that. This movie has more wtf moments than you can imagine. It’s high brow and low brow at the same time.

The Frankenstein Theory does something rather impressive: it finds a new angle with which to address Mary Shelley's classic and oft cinematically told tale. However, don't get excited as the execution of the film completely negates this initial originality, to dismal effect. If the film had just simply told the story of a group of investigators trying to track down a real Frankenstein's monster, then this film would have worked, but the creatives unfortunately opt for the found footage approach (and why not? The Blair Witch Project only established the dubious subgenre 14 years earlier - it's still hip!), and kill the concept stone dead (to the extent that even a lightning bolt couldn't revive it). Suffice to say, there is a lot of characters endlessly talking to the shaky camera, druggy yokel witnesses, and some off-camera howls and is-it-or-isn't-it Frankenstein's Monster activity, until an ultimate (SPOILER!!!!) "Oh, it IS Frankenstein's Monster!" revelation at the very last minute. Consequently, a great idea becomes a thoroughly moribund filmic experience (if you think that the cover image of said monster will ever be realized on screen, then prepare to be very, very disappointed), and the neat move of presenting Shelley's tale as a 'true story' becomes both boring and uninspiring, and that is a shame given the overall premise.

this movie had so much potential, an entire hour of film reel was wasted on absolutely nothing. apart from the trend that is going on that movies now have to waste 1hr 20mins on nothing but meaningless dialogue the action is all but 10mins of screaming and heavy breathing.the beginning sets you up for what could be something that would have you on the edge of your seat and the build up is great but Frankeinstein was nowhere to be seen the entire movie. i wouldn't say not to watch the movie but,you might want to lower your expectations on this one.you see the Blair witch project is the original of these types of movies and everything that came after, seems to be lazy. And an absolute marvel like Frankeinstein has been reduced to nothing but a cave man

I just watched The Frankenstein Theory on Netflix, and I was remarkably impressed. I would personally rank it amongst my top five found-footage films, alongside The Blair Witch Project, V/H/S, Grave Encounters, and Devil's Pass. I particularly loved the random interjection of quirky humor and personality flaws -- something which seems to be a rarity in this genre nowadays. It boosted the suspension of disbelief and the gave the movie some added smarts. I genuinely felt as if I was following ordinary people on an impromptu expedition rather than underpaid actors reading from a B-movie script. I also think the unusual choice of location was sufficiently compelling given the story's mythological basis (a la Devil's Pass and The Blair Witch Project). Although, the movie didn't pick up pace until the end, I enjoyed the character development. It added to the documentary's credibility and curiosity, rather than the typical detachment that I often experience with these types of films. My only disappointment was the final scene. It was almost too predictable. Maybe the director ran out of ideas? Still, that's a minor criticism given the overall production value. Highly recommended for anybody that is looking for a suspenseful late night sci-fi flick and is willing to tread off the beaten path of Paranormal Activity lookalikes.

I liked this movie. The acting wasn't horrible, the theory was completely off, the jokes were pretty darn funny, and it was entertaining. It sort of reminded me of JAWS for a second there half way through the movie, but it was pretty entertaining 'found footage' film. Though I wouldn't classify it as a 'found footage' since there are parts of the movie that they all can be seen with one camera and the camera is being moved by someone. The Frankenstein was pretty awesome, and I would never want to meet that guy. Definitely a flick worth watching if you have nothing else to do. They put some good money into this movie and I would definitely put it up there on a top 10 B Horror Film List somewhere.
