Not Forgotten
September. 11,2009 RSet in a Tex-Mex border town, Not Forgotten is a classic psychological thriller about Jack and Amaya Bishop, a couple who must come to terms with their tortured pasts in order to save their kidnapped daughter. It is a tale taut with intrigue and steeped in Latino mysticism, where the line between what's real and what's imagined becomes hopelessly blurred.

Such a frustrating disappointment
Pretty Good
I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Great Film overall
I just don't get how can people hate this movie. The cast is good, the story is good, and damn the plot twist at the end is insane. Though for some people it is insanely good or insanely irritating. This movie is all about terror, I've never seen a movie that gives you pure terror like this. The ending was definitely the most important part. At the beginning you would thought that this is the kind of movie like Taken or other kidnapping movie, but the end will really (maybe) get you.I guess to understand and love this movie, you have to have "that" dark thing in yourselves. I personally loved it.*** Spoilers Alert **** There's one thing though that I want the viewers to understand, no one won the battle. Jack/Roberto thought he had won but he has actually been fooled. And the St.Muertes maybe got their hands on Toby, and Toby's mind has been injected by the cult's persuasion. But will she did it or not is out of the question. It maybe sounds corny and all but its all about the battle between love and evil, will Roberto's love wins Toby's heart, or the muerte will conquer Toby?
I am giving this film 6 points. 4 for really good acting by everyone involved and 2 for all the stylish imagery. Simon Baker, Paz Vega and the little girl are genuinely evil and disturbed in their respective roles. Since all the characters are twisted, I guess the script called for a crazy plot, but I certainly didn't expect this level of craziness. Every minute was a new insane twist. It was difficult to not scratch my head. The film had one of the most lyrically violent murder scenes I have ever seen on screen but that doesn't really rescue the incomprehensibly lunatic plot. I think the last few scenes made it all the more crazy. They could have at least made the plot a trifle less convoluted if they had tied up at least one of the loose ends by killing off the Roberto/Jack character. But they didn't.The only thing that was truly fascinating to watch was the whole transformation and stripping down of characters to their core evil minimum. In that sense, the film plays more like a stylishly black grisly music video than a horror movie. Recommend it to liven up proceedings on a flat and boring rainy day.
This screening that people are talking about was actually a TEST screening, not an advance screening... aka, it's a TEST to see what people like and don't like, and then they fix things... as for the music, what we heard during the test was actually temporary music. I heard a rumor that Mark Isham (Crash, River Run Trough It, etc) is doing the music for Not forgotten, so that should be pretty great....I would DEFINITELY recommend this movie. Personally, I thought it had some really great twists and turns, and had a really cool dark feel to it, and a fascinating view of the dark underbelly of Mexico's low lives...Seriously, I did not see the ending coming at ALL. If I had to compare it to something, I would say it's like "Traffic" meets "A History of Violence". Oh, and obviously, Paz Vega's really hot.
I love dark, twisted movies, and this is definitely right up there... an awesome thriller! All of the religious rituals are pretty disturbing (but incredibly fascinating). The idea these people really exist and actually practice these rituals freaked me out! All in all, I thought it was thought provoking, the performances were great, and the ending was entirely unexpected. I got the feeling there might be a sequel; if that's the case, I would definitely see it too.Long story short: If you're into thrillers with some brains, then you'll really like Not Forgotten.
