Strong and Moving!
good back-story, and good acting
Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,
Barely believable story and acting that is simply okay. Premise is fun but the choices honestly could have been much worse for the R rating. There isn't that much violence for a R horror movie. It keeps your attention and even if it is low budget meh- just watch it. I don't think you'll regret it if you're in the mood for a good bad movie.
I like the whole core premise of the movie but there are some glaring imperfections.1. The whole story about the doctor. He appears and disappears from the movie like he was a prop.2. Why is the Lambrick family doing this in the first place? I dont see them benefiting financially. Plus, the weight of getting caught is pretty high when 6-7 people end up going missing after the Lambricks invite them to a dinner party.3. Why bother adding the son in the movie. He was more useless than the keys to the door. 4. Judging by the dialogue and script, this is not the first time that the Lambrick family has been doing this. So why haven't earlier winners like the doctor not notified the police. There are other points that I could point out but that would just be being picky. But if you want a semi-gory, quick movie to watch on a boring Tuesday night, this is right up your alley
This hearkens back to the old B movie nights when we watched cheap movies with outlandish story lines. And to top it off, we have the Re-Animator himself (Jeffrey Combs) as the protagonist of the movie. Gwad! I love these movies! So, remember as kids we played "Would you rather?" A common joke was slide down a razor or kiss a rabbit between the ears. Of course nothing ever happened, and we never hurt one another. Well, here they hurt each other. Why? Because the stakes are high dollar and it's a B movie. You won't a lot of action, and to be honest the movie is not gory. With that said, you will craw up into your chair in some cases, maybe turn your head a bit, and, no matter how good of a person you are, you will hope that someone, that special person, gets their up and comings. So boys and girls, get your soda, get your popcorn, pull each other tight, and have your eww buttons and aww no buttons pushed real good.
Theme Song: "Would you shoot your best friend or stab him with a pen?"Predictable, along the lines of 'The Box' which was based on the short story 'The Button' and agonizingly stretched into a two hour movie. Every moment that was supposed to be a shocking, unexpected moral decision was predictable and staged. 'You mean someone would choose themself over a perfect stranger in a life and death situation?' Say it ain't so. 'The host is an evil sadist?' I never would have guessed before the fifth evil laugh.* spoiler * (as if that's possible)'You mean all that was for nothing?' There was no twist that made the ending satisfying. By now, one of the survivors from an earlier game would have used their money to buy a rifle w/a telescopic site and shot the villain. It was like watching a 2hr Itchy / Scratchy marathon. Oh, and it's a message movie, what would you do for money and survival, I bet some of you would to eat a live Goldfish. If you don't believe me then watch this movie.
