Sorry, this movie sucks
Absolutely the worst movie.
It is encouraging that the film ends so strongly.Otherwise, it wouldn't have been a particularly memorable film
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
God lives in an apartment in Belgium with his wife and his 10-year-old daughter Ea. God spends most of his time in ruining people's life by making weird rules. His daughter has also power and she wants to create a brand new testament. Ea sneaks inside Gods locked office and sends text messages to everyone in the world informing their scheduled dates of death. It's a film that has full of imagination and also has a dark comedy side. The concept of the movie was catchy and visually it's a wonderful film. Van Dormael does not lack the skill to pull of beautiful moments from this fantasy movie. Cinematographer, Christophe Beaucarne captures the craziness of God character superbly. Overall, I highly recommend this film to anyone who likes fantasy movies.
After looking at the cast, i.e. Poolvorde and Damiens, you would be expecting some pretty obvious comedy, and... you would be wrong. While there are good jokes and comical situations, the movie focuses on the story of the characters (there are more than it appears in the trailer) and answers the question "What if..." I was not bored a single minute during that movie, and the story developed naturally, with the discovery and adventures of the new characters.I however didn't like the story with Catherine Deneuve, and the portrayal of a mighty computer. Also, it's always a pleasure to watch foreign movies in small theaters in San Francisco. Going to big chain theaters showing blockbuster movies with 30 min trailers and advertisements in giant crowded and way-too-loud theaters is not how I like to watch my movies... But I digress.
I liked this movie because it handles very well a main plot that provoques its audience, by merging it with a naif perspective. It's full of surreal moments that makes the movie look very playful, and it combines comedy and fantasy with a very solid drama. The characters are also very well built -I particularly liked the annoying god-. I like how the plot inquires about the conformism and insanity of society in everyday life, and how they unleash absurd (and still not meaningless) ways of solving each particular problem. It leaves you reflecting with a pleasant sensation. I think for some people it may turn out to be a cheap surrealism at times, but it is not a movie that should be taken very seriously either. Either way, it is very entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
The concept of the movies was good and really interesting, you will indulge in the movies and at every moment make your own theory about the end. This is the best thing a movies can do to its viewer. The only thing i don't like in the whole movie was how easily we believed that the God is only interested in us and other species are not so interesting to him, we are only few thousand years old but our attitude is bigger than anything else.If this movie would have shown the POV of other species also with the concept of god relating to them, then i must have given it the whole 10 out of 10. The end showed clearly that deep inside our heart we humans want everything to be controlled by us and need everything like how we want them to be. This will make us like the main villain of the movies (I can't tell you who is he).
