Sorry, this movie sucks

Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

I don't even know where to begin to review this movie. I knew it would be bad from the trailers but nothing had prepared me for this. My brother really wanted to give this one a try for a good laugh so we thought "why not".First you should know it is NOT a Nicholas Cage movie, unlike what the posters / trailers show. He's barely present on screen. Hayden Christensen however takes the lead and you see him in 90% of the movie.His stupid soccer player haircut coupled with his absolutely absurd accent makes the movie unwatchable. Cage's accent isn't even better. I don't know what they were both shooting for but it almost makes me regret having actors use an Irish / British accent for Crusade - Medieval movies.The action is set somewhere in China but most of the Asian actors had an indistinctive American accent, save for that one child with a very South London accent (for no reason). It was more than immersion breaking.Not a single character is useful to the plot. The action scenes are poorly made and I admit I fell asleep 5-6 times, my brother had to wake me up. He actually fell asleep before the movie ended. Please, this movie isn't one that is "so bad it's good". It's so bad you'll fall asleep. Avoid at all costs

When looking at the cover, one can assume that this movie will be about Templar Knights during the crusades, due to Nick Cage and Hayden Christensen being dressed like Knights with giant Templar crosses on their chests. However, the setting of this movie is after the Crusades, and much further east. I can't tell you any more details about the story, as I DO NOT want to spoil it for you. The average rating for this movie currently being 4.5, most people would consider my rating of 6 stars to be "high". However, I would defend my rating by saying that this is NOT your average Templar Knight/ Medieval Siege movie, and the story or plot is different enough to feel quite refreshing. If you enjoy movies of these types of settings, you will enjoy this movie. Why did it not get a higher rating? The film felt like it was lacking in the small details department, maybe even the effects department, I assume due to an inadequate budget. Unlike most low budget movies, this does not affect the movie very much as a whole, as I still consider this a good watch. Then again, I am one who enjoys these types of films. When compared to other low budget films, as far as quality goes, you can barely tell that the budget is lacking. I thought the acting was better than most films of this budget. Yet, it's no "Kingdom of Heaven".Overall, a good watch. Different, refreshing due to a unique enough story, yet not enough to garner more than 6 Stars

I fell in love with Hayden Christensen through this movie. He has matured into a fine actor. In this movie, he has became a battle hardened man and so much more.... Nicolas Cage is as awesome as he always been. I love the fighting scenes. One could tell that Nicolas Cage, Hayden and the action crews spent lots of time rehearsing their sword fighting scenes. I love the flow of the story. The writers and director have done their research well. The story is true to Western and Eastern history. The scenery is breathtaking. Almost like a promotion for Tourism. In summary, the movie definitely deserves a score of 10/10.

I am giving this movie 7 out of 10. The reason for this is simple, the accents. Now Haydens accent wasn't to bad to be honest, but Nick Cage could have done better. The story itself was good though, I was willing on Hayden throughout the movie. The cinematography could have been better, the fade in and fade outs where strange. Compared to many movies lately this is a good one, now I'll just pop the last samuari movie in here, this was the last movie of this type that I thought was really good. 7 out of 10. Please let Hayden be a top flight star again!
