A fatalistic car crash in Mexico city sets off a chain of events in the lives of three people: a supermodel, a young man wanting to run off with his sister-in-law, and a homeless man. Their lives are catapulted into unforeseen situations instigated by the seemingly inconsequential destiny of a dog.

To me, this movie is perfection.
There are better movies of two hours length. I loved the actress'performance.
It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
Both the liner notes of the DVD and the story line explanation on this movie's title page here state that it's about three lives inextricably linked in the wake of a terrible car crash. I would rather contend that the characters in the film are more properly seen as connected by chance, but not necessarily linked to each other. In that sense, the film maker relies on a gimmick that appeals to the average movie goer, who sees a connecting thread and places more value on the picture as a result of it. That's not to say that the links aren't competently developed. The narrative moves rather seamlessly from the dysfunctional brothers engaged in dog-fighting, to the ill fated lovers and on to the former ex-guerrilla fighter who takes on the role of an assassin when it suits him. Viewers offended by anything that might not be politically correct should stay away from this film, lest they be severely offended by brutal scenes of dogs mangling each other, a glamorous model who has her leg amputated, and the wayward vagabond unable to reconcile with his past life and abandonment of a daughter at a young age. Over all, this is a well made film with a well structured story that ultimately leaves the viewer somewhat disoriented because there really is no closure for any of the principals. In that respect, it's a lot like life when things don't go according to plan.
Greetings from Lithuania."Amores Perros" (2000) tells 3 separate stories which are linked by a horrific car accident. All 3 stories are down to earth accounts of people desperate to live. I was really involved into "Amores Perros", a 2 h and 30 min. drama / thriller. Acting, script and directing by a great Alejandro González Iñárritu were all top notch. The movie is pretty bloody and gritty and the times, and it never started to be predictable or boring.Overall, "Amores Perros" is a very good movie. It tells involving and real stories about people who are desperate to live or survive. Very good movie overall.
A horrific car accident connects three stories, each involving characters dealing with loss, regret, and life's harsh realities, all in the name of love. I love Aejandro González Iñárritu's work as a director especially in Birdman and The Revenant. But this is without a doubt his worst film that i have ever seen, the acting is wooden, the characters are bad and the situations that they go threw are not as dramatic as they might have hoped cause personally i hated all 3 stories more and more and none of them become clear by end plus the film doesn't have an actual main character. Also they should be shamed of themselves for what they did to those poor dogs threw out the entire film and don't get me start on that running time. Overall Amores Perros is an overrated junk with some of the worst acting performances i've ever seen. (0/10)
This is yet another over-rated movie that involves multiple sub-plots linked together by a common thread. Unlike some better executions (Crash, Babel) where the sub-plots come together in a climatic fashion, there is no such excitement here. I am no expert but I couldn't even see how the three sub-plots were related besides a dog playing central role in all three of them.
