It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

In his third televised comedy special, Jim Gaffigan is as funny as ever. In fact, this might be the best one yet following 'Beyond the Pale' (2006) and 'King Baby' (2009). Gaffigan takes his laziness in stride once more by examining how he avoids working out at the gym, and what a tough job it is for his wife to manage four kids. Other subjects in his crosshairs include McDonald's and Subway, seeing as how eating is another one of his favorite topics. And if you never considered the downside of a trip to Disney World, he'll bring you up to speed in hilarious fashion. All of Gaffigan's comedy specials appear to be available on Netflix as I write this so head on over for some funny stuff. I'm looking forward to the next two - 'Obsessed' and 'Cinco', so I'll be back in a while on those.

As I sat and watched "Jim Gaffigan: Mr. Universe", I did NOT count the number of times he cursed or what the curse words were. To me, this seems a bit odd. However, I can say that compared to most stand-up comedians, his act on this DVD was very clean and would probably receive a PG rating. But, more importantly, he is quite funny. Now I would not say I was rolling on the floor (particularly when he kept doing the whale imitation) but it did consistently make me laugh. And, more importantly, it made my daughter laugh--and she's not an easy sell. Quality-wise, I'd place this just below routines by Gabriel Iglesias or John Pinette (two VERY funny guys). Well worth seeing and filled with clever jokes and insights.

At least I did. Gaffigan is a mostly clean comedian who takes his observations about his family and the environment he happens to be in and makes them into jokes. He also points things out in a humorous way that often makes you look at something in a whole other way. The only swear words are that are used is S**t (1x) and BS (1x). He brings you along for the ride and makes comments that can make you hysterical with laughter. If you already love Jim Gaffigan as I do, then you will adore "Mr Universe" because it's the funniest special of his since "Beyond the Pale" and if you have Netflix what are you waiting for? It's on "Instant Watch" streaming!
