Sid and Bernie keep having their amorous intentions snubbed by their girlfriends Joan and Anthea, so when they decide to take them on a holiday to Paradise Camp, they think they're off to a nudist colony—but they couldn't be more wrong, and meet up with the weirdest bunch of campers you can imagine.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
Best movie ever!
Blistering performances.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
This film is famous for one scene; possibly the most famous scene in all the Carry On films... the scene where Barbara Windsor's bikini top flies off as she does her exercises; in some ways that is a pity as there are plenty of much funnier scenes in the film. This instalment in the series includes many of the regulars as they go camping at the Paradise Campsite. Not surprisingly it does not live up to its name; Sid and Bernie are particularly disappointed as they thought it was a nudist establishment where they'd hoped to take their rather innocent girlfriends 'by accident'. Other attendees are hen-pecked Peter Potter (Terry Scott) who would rather be in a hotel abroad, solo camper Charlie who accidentally camps on a bombing range and a bus load of less than innocent school girls. Inevitably they all get up to their usual antics; Sid and Bernie take an interest in the girls; Peter gets a backside full of shot after a misunderstanding with an irate farmer and school headmaster Kenneth Soper has to fight off the attentions of the amorous school matron.By the time the Carry On team went camping the more gentle comedy of the early outings had been replaced by innuendo, lots of innuendo; that wasn't really a problem though as it was well handled and pretty funny for the most part. When I saw that Terry Scott was in it I was prepared for disappointment but surprisingly he turned out to be one of the most entertaining characters; the moment when he finally stood up to his wife and threw the unwanted 'guest', Charles Hawtrey, out of his tent was a joy to behold. The regular cast played the characters one would expect; Sid James was an old letch, Bernard Bresslaw was a bit dim and Barbara Windsor was a naughty girl, who giggled a lot... despite being far too old to be a believable schoolgirl; who cares though it is a Carry On! If you are a fan of the Carry On series you are sure to love this one and despite the innuendo it isn't too naughty... after all it currently has a PG certificate.
I don't consider the Carry On movies the best movies I have seen or anything, but I do find them very entertaining. Carry on Camping is for me one of the better movies of the series, it is very funny and lively. It is perhaps too short, and the big slapstick finale was a wee bit of a disappointment compared to other scenes of the film such as the wonderful double entendre incidents. That said, it looks great, one of the better-looking Carry Ons I think, the music is quirky, the direction is lively and the film moves quickly. Not to mention a nice story, some hilarious dialogue and some of the funnier comedy set pieces from any Carry On movie. And the cast are on top form- Sidney James has a ball as an unlikely hippy, Kenneth Williams is delightful as pretty much always, Barbara Windsor brightens up the screen with her presence, Charles Hawtrey is hilarious and Peter Butterworth has possibly his finest hour as the miserly site owner. Overall, very entertaining, high art it isn't, but fun it is. 8/10 Bethany Cox
Sid James and Bernard Bresselaw take Joan Sims and Dilys Laye out to a movie. They show them a nudist film about camping. Sid decides they should all take a trip to a camp. Kenneth Williams and Hattie Jacques play the teachers at an all girl school. They decide to take the girls camping. Terry Scott and his wife also go camping. Charles Hawtrey heads up there by himself. When Sid and crew arrive, he finds out it's the wrong place. He wants to leave until the school bus with the girls arrive. Later on some hippies show up. They get rid of them by messing up their equipment. The girls try to leave with them and they are chased down by Kenneth. Dilys Lays looks very fit in a white shirt and striped shorts. A good outing for the Carry on People.
This is the one, out of all 31 carry on films, this is the very best, you have got the whole team, Sid, Kenneth, Joan, Hattie, Charles, Bernard and Peter all causing mischief in this fantastic Carry On Camping. Gerald Thomas and Peter Rogers have done it, they have created one of the best comedy films of the sixties (my opinion). What a good idea of them to come up with a carry on that involves the whole gang out in a field, in tents etc. Bernard Bresslaw is hilarious when he rips through the tent roof. Kenneth Williams's fantastic performance as usual and Terry Scott a hero, continued to work although ill.One of my very favourite Carry Ons and i know many others will like it too!
