Trailer Synopsis

This is a fast-paced, modern, thirty-minute program that explores the best of Michigan. Airing on PBS outlets all across Michigan, Northern Ohio, and Eastern Wisconsin and 2.5 Million homes in Canada. Think modern, hip, high-tech, fast-paced, travel channel - concentrating on only Michigan. Each week UTR host Tom Daldin explores everything from Michigan restaurants and museums, to cool businesses and neighborhoods. The object is to discover the people, places and things that are unique about Michigan.

Then we’ll show you how a little instrument can have such a huge following, and how asparagus captures the hearts, minds, and stomachs of an entire town. Episode 12 : Outdoorpalooza

It's our first ever and official "Outdoorpalooza" show! Grab your tent because we start our adventure at the Pinckney Recreation Area with some camping, hiking, and s'mores. Then we hit Au Sable in Oscoda for canoeing, and explore the tops of the trees in Traverse City. Plus, we see some classic cabins in Walhalla and catch a Wild Rose Brown Trout on Pere Marquette.

We head to historic Holly for a tiny railroad that’s bigger than life, a store with mounds of Michigan-made matter, and a place with so much atmosphere and great food, that you just might want to be a ghost there someday. Then we head north to Traverse City for a food truck foodie phenomenon, a walk in the woods with a talking tree, and a classic slice of Michigan life.

Just north of Kalkaska, we found some crazy, cool, and colorful concrete creations, and in Cadillac, we had a meal that not only filled our stomachs...it warmed our hearts. Then, we used a farm and a fork to meet a blue cow in Big Rapids, snacked like superheroes with Herman's Boy in Rockwell, and ended with a classic cocktail at Nick Fink's Tavern in Comstock Park.

We also meet a talented young couple who are bringing fresh food to Alpena, and even go to a surreal place where you can find a real lot of fossils. We head north to show you why our state’s upper half is a place you just have to visit. The first part of our odyssey takes us all the way to the top of the mighty Mackinac Bridge. Then we eat with an army of Antlers and fall in love with Tahquamenon. We'll even visit a ranch you’ll ‘bear’ly believe, and prepare pasties like pros.

Then we jump to Jackson for a true taste of Texas Barbecue; Kawkawlin for a complete turkey dinner with all the trimmings and finally Brutus for a place with a crazy name that serves fantastic fried chicken. We’ll also take a train to the North Pole and go way back in time for a classic holiday night. We even wrap it all up with more big bright lights. So, get ready for some holiday mirth and merriment on Under the Radar Michigan. Ho Ho Hope you like it!
