South of Sunset
South of Sunset is an American TV detective series, starring musician/actor Glenn Frey, that only aired one episode on CBS in 1993. Frey played Cody McMahon, a private eye whose offices were located just south of Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills. As a result, he calls his business the Beverly Hills Detective Agency, despite the fact he's in the "low-end" part of town. Aries Spears co-starred as Cody's young assistant Ziggy Duane, and Maria Pitillo played his cute blond secretary Gina Weston. The show was a combination of comedy and suspense, reminiscent of ABC's hit series Moonlighting. The show was created by John Byrum, who wrote all six of the episodes that were produced, and served as co-executive producer with Stan Rogow. The show was heavily promoted during the 1993 World Series by CBS. However, only the pilot of South of Sunset ever aired, on October 27, 1993—and not even to the entire country. News coverage of wild fires in Malibu pre-empted the show's lone episode on many West Coast stations, including KCBS in Los Angeles itself. Disappointed with the ratings of the pilot and unwilling to give it a chance to build a base, CBS immediately cancelled the show, much to Frey's chagrin. VH1 later aired four more of the shows as part of their Eagles Family Tree Week.

Tucker's Witch
Tucker's Witch is a 12-episode comedy-detective series that aired on CBS television from October 6, 1982, to November 10, 1982, and again sporadically from March 31 to June 9, 1983. It starred 34-year-old Tim Matheson and 31-year-old Catherine Hicks as a charming married couple, Rick and Amanda Tucker, who own and operate their private detective agency in Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles. Hicks replaced actress Kim Cattrall, who was in the pilot but was removed from the show after the movie Porky's came out and showed Cattrall's racy scene in the gym. In the story line, Amanda's psychic powers become an asset in solving cases but also tend to get the pair into various troubles. In later rebroadcasts on the USA Network, the program was known as The Good Witch of Laurel Canyon. Catherine Hicks had previously been a soap opera actress on ABC's Ryan's Hope, and received an Emmy nomination for her 1980 performance as Marilyn Monroe in an ABC biopic, and later known to audiences for her role as Annie Camden, the sympathetic, discerning wife of the minister Eric Camden, played by Stephen Collins, in the Warner Brothers family series 7th Heaven. Matheson starred earlier in Robert Young's Window on Main Street and two western series, NBC's The Virginian with James Drury and ABC's The Quest with Kurt Russell, and in various films, including Animal House. He was also the voice of the Jonny Quest cartoon character.

The Colbys
The Colbys
The Colbys is an American prime time soap opera, which originally aired on ABC from November 20, 1985 to March 26, 1987. Produced by Aaron Spelling, it was a spin-off of Dynasty, which had been the highest rated series for the 1984–1985 U.S. television season. The Colbys revolved around another wealthy, upper-class family, who were distant relatives of the Carringtons of Dynasty and who owned a large multi-national corporation. Intended to surpass its predecessor in opulence, the series' producers were handed an immensely high budget for the era and cast a handful of well-known movie stars among its leads, including Charlton Heston, Barbara Stanwyck, Katharine Ross and Ricardo Montalban. However, The Colbys was ultimately a ratings disappointment, and was canceled after two seasons.
