Synopsis
Men of a Certain Age is an American comedy-drama television series, which premiered on TNT on December 7, 2009. The hour-long program stars Ray Romano, Andre Braugher and Scott Bakula as three best friends in their late forties dealing with the realities of middle age. It won a Peabody Award in 2010. On July 15, 2011, TNT cancelled the series after two seasons.

Owen finds a new sense of purpose when he goes to work for a rival auto dealership following his father’s decision to turn management over to Marcus. And Terry’s life spins out of control when his gig on a movie results in disasters at the apartment complex.

Desperate to buy a house after his son develops anxiety issues related to their family situation, Joe decides to bet $25,000 on a basketball game. Terry is forced to face the dire condition of his acting career when he agrees to take a bit part on a B movie. And Owen’s father decides it’s time to cut back on his work load and let Marcus take over more of the day-to-day management of the dealership.

Owen’s wife and mother get upset when a commercial for the auto dealership implies that Owen’s co-worker, Marcus, is actually Owen Sr.’s son. And Terry becomes obsessed over finding out why he has been rejected for a youth mentoring program.

The construction at Owen’s house is shut down by the city when it is discovered that the contractor, who has now disappeared, never filed the proper permits. To make matters worse, the electricity is out, forcing Owen and his family to temporarily stay with his parents. Meanwhile, Joe worries that his daughter’s ex-boyfriend might be stalking her.

Owen and Melissa join Joe’s ex-wife, Sonia, and her new boyfriend, Harold, for a charity function at their children’s school. Terry does his annual duty as auctioneer for the event and meets an old flame, while Joe winds up hanging out with his bookie, Manfro.

Joe tries to connect better with his son, Albert, by teaching him golf. But when the school golf team is ready to compete in a tournament, Albert is reluctant to get on the bus. And Terry gets into his character a little too much when a coworker asks him and an actress to pretend to be an interested homebuyer at an open house.

A Bit of a Do is a British comedy drama series based on the books by David Nobbs. The show starred David Jason and was aired on ITV in 1989. It was made for the ITV network by Yorkshire Television.
The show was set in a fictional Yorkshire town. Each episode took place at a different social function and followed the changing lives of two families, the working-class Simcocks and the middle-class Rodenhursts, together with their respective friends, Rodney and Betty Sillitoe, and Neville Badger. The series begins with the wedding of Ted and Rita Simcock's son Paul to Laurence and Liz Rodenhurst's daughter Jenny; an event at which Ted and Liz begin an affair.
