The Inbetweeners Movie
August. 20,2011 RHigh school graduation just wouldn’t be complete without an un-chaperoned, uninhibited and unforgettable final holiday. At least that’s what Will, Jay, Simon and Neil think when they book a two-week stay on an exotic Greek island. As their dreams of sun-drenched days and booze-filled nights are left hopelessly unfulfilled, the lads fight their way into the party scene with hilariously humiliating results in this smash hit UK raunchy comedy.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Plot Overview: When Simon(Joe Thomas)'s girlfriend dumps him, he and his friends go on a lads holiday to Malia, encountering drugs, alcohol and women along the way.Directed by Ben PalmerStarring Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and James Buckley# NO SPOILERS!Overall: If you like the TV show, you'll like this film. If you like this type of Cringe comedy - you'll like this movie. This movie is definitely not for everyone but those that it is for will like it.The type of people who like this movie will be fans of the TV show and those who enjoy cringe comedy.Would Recommend# POSSIBLE SPOILERS!Blake Harrison was great as Neil Sutherland and is everyone's favourite slow, perverted 18 year old. All the characters were hilarious and amazing and brilliant. Other than Blake, other leading actors' acting was pretty mediocre. The villain-esc character was very weak. The overall story doesn't go over the top and remains like a classical lads holiday. The ending is pretty nice and has a nice sentiment. There is nothing really special to the story and the continuous over arching story of Simon & Carli's relationship has become bland and repetitive. The cinematography was fine. It worked well and served its purpose. This movie is positively hilarious and thoroughly entertaining. It opens the window for fans of the show and newcomers alike to enjoy the antics of Will and co. The music was amazing. Mr Gilbert's cameo was amazing.Personally, I loved this movie and think it is one of the better TV- Big screen adaptations that's been made in recent memory.8/10
'The Inbetweeners' is a British, teenage 'coming of age' comedy which had started life as a hit BBC sitcom and was transformed into one of the most successful box office British movies of 2011. I read the positive reviews, but still had no particular desire to see it until a good friend of mine told me he had seen it and it was hilarious. Not being one to reject a genre out of hand, I decided to see what all the fuss was about. As it commenced, I was fully prepared to be entertained and amused by the silly antics of a bunch of testosterone-filled teenage boys on their first trip abroad. Indeed, I confess that for the first five minutes, I really thought that this might indeed be the exception that proved the rule. But unfortunately, this early scene when one of the spotty kids masturbated naked in front of a live sex webcam and was interrupted in mid-shoot by his mother and sister with the news that his Granddad had just died, turned out to be the high point of the film. After that, it was downhill all the way, with barely another mirth–provoking antic throughout the remainder of the dire film to redeem it from being a banal, badly acted, badly scripted, decidedly unfunny load of garbage. But maybe I am just a grumpy old sod, totally lacking a sense of humour
It was possibly the most anticipated film of the year, the TV show had ended and it had been announced that the Inbetweeners would be returning, in a feature length film! The 4 lads had finished school and were now free to do what they please with their time, what else is there to do, other than a lads holiday to Malia! It sounds like it has all the promise to be fantastic doesn't it? It really should have been one of the films of the year, it had all the ingredients, but unfortunately it just felt flat. It's hard to write a review on The Inbetweeners Movie without drawing comparisons to the TV show. This is because the TV show was absolutely faultless (well, the majority of it anyway!). I will list the problems I had with the movie:1) It felt too Hollywood. Too many times in the movie where they went too unrealistic, the great thing about The Inbetweeners was that it was so relatable, it was realistic and above all else, it was original. The movie seems to have too many cliché moments and over the top, slapstick humour, which is not what The Inbetweeners is all about. 2) Too much focus on the girls. The 4 lads spent most of the series chasing girls and managing to fail 99% of the time. In the movie they attract girls within the first night! That's not within keeping of the series! The girls like the lads and the lads keep on messing situations up, surely it should have been the other way round and the lads just be the ones harassing the girls? 3) Not as much crude humour, it felt like a watered down version of the TV show. As I said before the humour felt more slapstick, the crude one-liners and offensive jokes felt kept to a minimum which was a real shame. 4) Felt to Clichéd. The falling out between the lads half way through. The fact Carly keeps popping up throughout the film. The alpha Male club rep. It's all been done far too often in Hollywood comedies and to be honest, it's getting a little tiring now.Don't get me wrong, The Inbetweeners Movie is an enjoyable watch, I have seen it several times and it still amuses me. It's just if you make a direct comparison to the TV show (which is near impossible not to) it just doesn't live up to its reputation. The Chemistry is still there between the 4 lads and the loyalty and friendship is still nice to see.7/10
The grand finale of a successful British TV series, has the foursome of socially inept dysfunctional youth go on spring break into Greek wonderland in search for sex, drugs and the ultimate party. The self-proclaimed 'pussay patrol' hit the sands, unruly, clueless, but mostly clit-oriented. The virgin wisecracking Will McKenzie (Simon Bird) keeps a watchful sarcastic distance towards the whole endeavor, while his best mate Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas) bemoans being dumped by his girlfriend just prior to the trip. The more one-track stance is taken on by the remaining twosome: Neil Harrison (Blake Harrison) who dry-humps literally anything that has two melons (as only penetration equals cheating on his girl), while the crass and oft overbearing Jay Cartwright (James Buckley) spews out masculine obscenities when mis-enticing his prey. The European Pie takes on a similar crude form of outlook into sexual explorations of youth, as its American predecessor, adding in some low-brow lewd British humour. Given the relative prominence of the serial, director Ben Palmer dives straight into the story, no real introduction necessary, as the characters are well-defined enough to quickly fill in the blanks, while the vessel itself is already en route to the perverse land of all night partying and sexuality. The narrative never really evolves from there, basically limiting itself to throwing a counterpart foursome of girls, who may or may not turn out to be the 'pussay patrols' summer sexual retreat.Owing much to the famed American Pie series, "The Inbetweeners" delves into a similar level of humour, but unfortunately with inferior build-up and an unexpected drabness (a sense of insincerity to the story). Here the action is much more episodic, as if warping from sketch to sketch, instead of steadily building up and bringing about the obscene audacious hilarity. Naturally "American Pie" also had its prolonged gags, but in the end they seamlessly converged into a vastly superior and raunchier story.
