Too much of everything
Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
I already liked Alexis Bledel as Rory Gilmore, so I knew I would like her in this. And Lena was basically Rory, sweet and quiet, but with three best friends her own age, not a best friend for a mother. And blue collar grandparents who were good people if somewhat traditional and strict, rather than grandparents who would consider Lena's grandparents to be worthy only to do all the work they didn't want to do. The Romeo and Juliet romance was enjoyable and I liked Lena's boyfriend.America Ferrera made this movie before we all fell in love with Ugly Betty. And like so many of her characters, Carmen made us like her with a nice personality and a beautiful smile, and in this case a temper which was justified. I had forgotten how fat she used to be before she lost weight, but it didn't really matter. Until it became important the plot, and that was such a shame. I did like how she eventually resolved the problem.Amber Tamblyn had an edge that took some getting used to. I seem to recall her having a TV series I didn't watch. Later in the movie, she seems much more caring than she did to begin with.Blake Lively probably showed talent, but mostly she just looked amazing. That long blonde hair and all those scenes where she wasn't wearing a lot.I expected Ferrera to be the standout actor, but young Jenna Boyd was amazing. And what she did for Amber Tamblyn's character.Bradley Whitford I have seen in a number of roles. He was good here. A loving but clueless father who really tried.I know Nancy Travis mainly as the patient wife of Mike Baxter. She is nice here, but kind of shallow. It's quite an interesting set of stories linked by these miracle jeans.
How this cost all of that money to make, I'll never know! Four best girlfriends hatch a plan to stay connected with one another as their lives start off in different directions: they pass around a pair of secondhand jeans that fits each of their bodies perfectly. If you enjoyed the old Australian movies about adultery, you'll probably like this one. The people who put this one together really knew what they were doing. It's one of those films for which I could guess the plot exactly before I saw it. You could say that the film is built on a firm base, but it's also one big pile of self-obsession. Are there annoying things in this movie? Yes. I give it a rating of 7 out of 10 because it's flawed but good.
The girls were about to get separated during their summer holiday. So they went out shopping for the last time before they all went to their summer holidays, and by chance, they found a pair of jeans that fits them all. And that has never happens before, especially they all have different thigh size. They believe that they found the jeans not by chance, but by a stroke of luck b the Almighty, and they decided that the pants must be shared between them. They made rules (ten rules to be exact), and they were obliged to follow it.So the pant got a different owner every week, and the girl who got the pant must write what they have been through in diaries so that the other know and can share about it too.So all around the world the pant went. From Greece to the boot camp and back again to Greece. And it's surprising how they have so much interesting things that went through, some may be happy moments, whilst some may be unpleasant ones. What I like about his film is that it is original, creative, funny, witty, and seems real. The characters were developed with such ingenuity that viewers feel close to them. The experience may be different, but the essence is the same. We have all felt happy, sad, anxious, crestfallen, deeply in love and all that. It's what the viewers can experienced from this film and these mixtures of feelings and emotions made this film a very good watch. In all, this film is recommended to everyone, as it contains no nudity, no profanity, and the message is good, to cherish the people close to us and to care for our friends.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, what I expected to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen, I couldn't believe it, I'm going to be honest, a hater of chick flicks(I'm a girl by the way), I actually loved this movie. I was so shocked that I actually enjoyed this movie throughly. Scary enough, every girl I could relate too: the Greek boyfriend, the suicidal mother, loosing a close family member to leukemia, and the neglectful father. It was disturbingly psychic to my life, but I think that's why I enjoyed it so much is that this movie wasn't unbelievable in any manner. No, I haven't read the book, not sure if I would read it, but I do know that I would recommend this movie to my friends. It's funny, smart, realistic, cute, and just makes a great story for the harder times of growing up and becoming an adult.Tibby, Carmen, Lena, and Bridget are four friends who have grown up together, they call themselves the sisterhood who have found one pair of jeans that magically fits them all. Tibby spends her summer making a documentary and befriends a sick little girl who shows her that it's OK to care about people. Carmen spends the summer with her dad who has almost "upgraded" with his new marriage and shoving it in Carmen's face. Lena is spending the summer in Greece with her grandparents and has an unexpected forbidden romance with a cute guy. Bridget is going to camp practicing her non stop stardom in sports and chases after a coach which she's not supposed to do. But they mail the pants to each other and write letters in the summer that they have officially grown up.The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was one of those pleasant surprises for me, because even though it is a very girly movie, it's very real and doesn't over do it. We haven't had a good coming of age movie in a while, so this is a perfect film for the family as well as teenagers. Will the guys enjoy this film? Not the action lovers at least, but I'm sure that any film buff could find the true heart of the film and just fall in love with The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, it has good acting, great stories, and makes you remember the scary time of growing up. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a recommendation for me, this is a non miss movie.8/10
