Series about striking railways in the world. Each episode travels along a number of special locations, where the train serves as a guide and there is also attention for the landscape and culture.

Episode 13 : France
August. 22,2002
Le petit train jeune. From the medieval fortified town of Villefranche de Conflent at the foot of the Pyrenees, it meanders over a wobbling narrow gauge 'the yellow canary'. Along great tunnels and overpasses, the little train with that nickname swings to thin heights in the sun of La Tour de Carol.
Episode 12 : Switzerland
August. 15,2002
A journey with the Voralpenexpress between two of the great Swiss lakes, Lake Lucerne and Lake Constance. The journey goes from the forerunners of the Alps via tunnels and viaducts (the highest in Europe!) To lovely hills with orchards in the north of the country.
Episode 11 : Portugal
August. 08,2002
About the new high-speed line from Portugal from the old heart of Lisbon, past modern structures of a world exhibition and the Tagus river to Coimbra. In contrast to the high-speed line, a trip to Figuera da Foz on the coast via a slow train.
Episode 10 : France & Italy
August. 01,2002
A train journey through the beautiful Riviera between Nice in France to Ventimiglia in Italy. Then over impressive viaducts through the valley of the river Roya over the Col de Tende to Cuneo. It is a politically charged railway line, which was used more often than not for various reasons.
Episode 9 : India
July. 25,2002
The country with the largest rail network in the world. A ride on one of the famous narrow gauge lines in India; from Kalka in the plain to Simla in the Himalayas. After a hundred years the track is still used intensively and it continues to surprise travelers with constantly changing panoramas.
Episode 8 : Spain
July. 18,2002
From Durango to Bilbao on the oldest narrow-gauge line in this part of Spain. We make a further introduction to the Basque Country by train to Bermeo on the coast. A steam train on a museum line provides nostalgia.
Episode 7 : Spain
July. 11,2002
In the Basque Country there is a narrow-gauge line between the two most important cities, San Sebastian and Bilbao. A ride over that gives a good impression of this beautiful, unknown part of Spain. In this episode the journey to Durango and a museum line with steam as a reminder of the former narrow-gauge network.
Episode 6 : Germany
July. 04,2002
A 'Bergbahn' in the hills of southern Germany, that is how the Black Forest describes the railway line. Even though the peaks are not that high, the journey from Offenburg to Konstanz on Lake Constance is particularly surprising due to the great variation of the landscape through which the train winds through.
Episode 5 : Norway
June. 27,2002
A train journey from the capital of the fjords into the mountains. So from Bergen on the green coast to half a meter of snow and spectacular views. Finally a ride with the world famous Flambana back to the sea.
Episode 4 : Egypt: Caïro - Luxor - Aswan
June. 20,2002
Episode 3 : Egypt
June. 13,2002
A drive through the Nile Delta from the ancient city of Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast to the heart, the capital Cairo. It gives a good impression of a country where modern and old can be seen in an exuberant way and often compete with each other for the right to exist.
Episode 2 : United States & Canada
June. 06,2002
A ride with Amtrak from the heart of New York to the heart of Montreal, two major cities on the east coast of North America. It is the story of the many railroad companies, who played a role in this and eventually fell victim to all sorts of takeovers.
Episode 1 : Germany & Austria
May. 30,2002
This railway line can be described as an international connection between two countries with the character of a slow train. From Kempten in the Allgau with the Ausserfernbahn along Reutte to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Tirol and then with the Karwendelbahn to Innsbruck. It goes from the foot to the middle of the Alps, with the added bonus of a train ride to the highest peak in Germany, the Zugspitze.
