Episode 13 : Ultimate French Drain

A serious drainage problem is solved underground with a French drain that's disguised on top by plants and a dry creek bed. Creative, recycled seating is placed throughout the yard and a massive daybed caps off the end of the creek. Made of redwood and metal with huge outdoor cushions, this daybed provides comfortable lounging for six or more.
Episode 12 : Backyard Living Room

With a small house, this homeowner wants to expand the living space into her backyard. This landscape goes from unused lawn space to large paver patio framed by colorful hanging antique windows and a bright door. Also, some hardwood deck planks are put together to build some deep rectangular bench seating. Some new plants, hanging party lights and a tree stump turned into a slick coffee table and this couple gets the ultimate outdoor room.

Overhead, a redwood arbor with stripes of multi-colored shade cloth adds function and an element of design. Surrounding the patio a plank walkway and mow-free grass expand the usable entertaining space.
