On October 14, 1947, Captain Chuck Yeager accomplished what many thought was impossible: he broke the sound barrier and in doing so, changed aviation history forever. Behind this remarkable achievement was a dedicated team of rocket scientists and engineers, and one incredible plane, a Bell X-1 named "Glamorous Glennis." This is the story of the plane and the people who dared to travel faster than the speed of sound, pushing flight science forward and proving that no matter the barrier, humanity can find a way to break through.

The Dakota Entrapment Tapes
The Dakota Entrapment Tapes
In a sleepy North Dakota town, where the crime rate is so low people often don’t lock their front doors, 20-year-old college student Andrew Sadek mysteriously disappears in May 2014 and is found dead almost two months later. What Andrew’s friends and family didn’t know was that in the months before his death, he had been coerced into becoming an informant for an aggressive police task force that had been secretly operating for years. As details of Andrew’s double life are revealed, the cover of the shadowy program is blown, laying bare the collusion and abuse of power of local law enforcement at all levels. Following the Sadek family’s fight for the truth about how their son was killed, the film skillfully uncovers the forces at play in his death and reveals why law enforcement secretly waged a war on drugs, on a college campus that didn’t have a drug problem.

Surviving Supercon
Surviving Supercon
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to put on a major fan convention, the likes of San Diego Comic Con or MegaCon? Well, look no further as director Steven Shea trains a surprising lens on all the backstage triumph and tragedy it takes to pull off South Florida’s gigantic Florida Supercon. Surviving Supercon follows owner Mike Broder and his wife and partner Sandy Martin—a “mom & pop” duo—who launched the convention in 2006, inspired by Atlanta’s DragonCon and Orlando’s Spooky Empire, as they run their four-day convention over a weekend of monumental victories and disasters. From crazy celebrity stories, to amazing connections in the wake of unsuspecting tragedy, plus inept security teams and anarchic attendees, the film is a love letter to all the passion and madness it takes to brave a sea of Harley Quinns and deliver a seemingly flawless weekend to the tens of thousands of guests who cross the threshold into a convention center where dreams are made.

The Passing On
The Passing On
Three professions ushered Black former slaves from poverty to the American dream: preacher, teacher, and undertaker. Today, renowned embalmer James Bryant puts his faith in a new generation to continue this vanishing legacy. However, his young intern, Clarence Pierre, meets him with resistance, conflicted about his commitment to carrying on embalming traditions and the judgment he feels from the Black community as a queer, Christian man. Taking place in the oldest Black funeral home in San Antonio, this poetic documentary examines the waning tradition of African American funeral homes.

Plastic Jacket
Plastic Jacket
Influenced by the 2019 Green Man Artist Residency and experiences from the COVID-19 indoor isolation period, Plastic Jacket collects first-hand and found content together, following research into subterranean networks and microclimates around the Black Mountains. Contrasting microclimates in close proximity can encourage the co-habitation of organisms that wouldn't usually exist near to each other. Plastic Jacket echoes the unusual pairings that microclimates offer through collaging imagery and sound, imagining what may coexist below the surface. Plastic Jacket features GIFs, sounds and clips, looping content that relates to experiences of the COVID-19 indoor isolation period: researching the outdoors indoors; attempting to feel connected to nature and people by endlessly scrolling through web pages and apps; growing and feeding algorithms; searching for links among seemingly unconnected digital artefacts.

The Art of Delusion
The Art of Delusion
The art of delusion is sculpted with images from a family archive from the 70s and 80s and sound clips from films. Madame Bovary is Flaubert's heroine and opens the hosts of this narrative exercise. Based on Ema Paiva's dialogue with her friend and confidant Pedro Luminares in the film Vale Abraão (Manoel de Oliveira, 1993), we understand gender identity as a closed characterisation of social values.
