Happy Go Lucky
"Happy Go Lucky" seeks to tackle the issue of gambling in a light-hearted yet touching manner. Hardcore gambler, Hock Lee Poh (Richard Low) is an ardent believer of Feng Shui, but is always down on his luck. His eldest daughter Donna (Patricia Mok), though petty and calculative, spends all her time and money on lavish nightlife and hunky social escorts - till she loses everything in the end. Fu Xin (Fann Wong), Poh's illegitimate second daughter is born at an extremely inauspicious hour and thus labeled as the "jinx" of the family. However, Fu Xin actually is a surreptitious 'Lucky Star' who always manages to turn unfavourable conditions into favourable ones. Fu Xin sacrifices a lot for the family. And in a twist of fate and luck, she unexpectedly helps Poh to win a hefty sum of money. Meanwhile, Poh and Donna find themselves stranded along the streets of Cambodia in a failed attempt to recoup their losses at the gambling tables.
Something Better Somewhere Else
Chicago-based writer/director Ron Lazzeretti (The Opera Lover, The Merry Gentleman) explores the complexities of modern relationships in this independent drama presented in four parts. The first segment, titled "Last Day" finds acrimony taking precedent over amenity during a farewell party for an employee who's about to move on. A bride and the priest who's officiating her wedding get an unpleasant surprise after running away together in "Wedding Night," and a woman on the CTA receives a spontaneous gift that transforms her outlook on the world (at least, momentarily) in "Flowers". Lastly, a family preparing for a big relocation finds the forces of the universe seemingly aligned against them in "Move".
The Pink Hotel
A portrait of the moment in which a previously grand, luxurious lifestyle is revealed to be woefully unstable. Following the parallel experiences of several tenants of a luxury hotel, we witness the ways in which different personalities react when faced with the realization that something very fundamental to their lifestyle is utterly wrong. A man finds himself inexplicably unable to leave his room due to an overwhelming dread that something dire has been neglected. An obliviously decadent movie star spirals into stardom and terrible consequence. A devoted Concierge embarks on a mission to dispatch his beloved hotel with dignity. And the faded ghost of a woman, all too aware of the trajectory of her opulent home, slowly and quietly relinquishes control.

Joe and his wife Dionne have had yet another bad crop for their winery. Faced with the prospect of losing the family farm, Dionne convinces her mother (a witch) to cast a spell upon next year's crop. The crop is such a success that Joe hires some college students to help them harvest. However, when a nosy neighbor begins poking around in the fields, he finds out more than he bargained for. Now the question isn't how to best harvest the crop, it's how to keep from being harvested!

The Harbor
Produced through a collaboration between Akumassa, a program within Jakarta-based film collective Forum Lenteng, and Pasirputih, an organization that grew out of a 2008 Akumassa workshop. Collectively shot in the North Lombok town of Bangsal, a small village that serves the gateway to the Gili Islands. The islands are a major tourism destination, an industry that has caused considerable environmental damage. The collective gaze of area residents captures the incoming boats that facilitate the area’s economies.

From this starting point, the filmmaker José-Luis Peñafuerte (grandson of exiles) takes us on an authentic film journey through the roots of that hidden European memory, in order to open a window against oblivion.
