The Use of White Phosphorus in Urban Environments
The Use of White Phosphorus in Urban Environments
We examined videos from the 2008–2009 Gaza conflict, and from Fallujah, Iraq, where US forces had deployed against the Iraqi army in white phosphorus in 2004. Within a parametric model, we simulated projectiles detonating over various configurations of a generic urban environment. We concluded that in Gaza, white phosphorus was likely used to harass and terrorise citizens in order to clear neighbourhoods, rather than as a ‘smoke screen’, as the Israeli military had claimed. -FA

Occupy Image
Occupy Image
The conventional use of parallax in 3d media presumes a coherent Cartesian space. The meshing and sequential dissolving of varying perspectives and disparate spaces in Occupy Image destabilizes the illusion and expectation of space. What is expressed in its place is an expanded sense of parallax in regards to depth perception. One where depth is a negotiation of difference to be perceived by combining the here with a formally unrelated there, and there and so on.

The Walkaround
The Walkaround
A hilarious mockumentary about auto shows in the vein of Spinal Tap, Waiting For Guffman and Best In Show. Shot at actual auto shows by real product specialists, this indie favorite has a verisimilitude unlike any comedy of its kind. Filled with hysterical supporting characters, it centers around Johnathon Johnson, a veteran auto show narrator who takes his job far too seriously and is determined to make it a launching pad for his acting "career." After taking Jason, a seemingly innocent and naive newcomer, under his wing, a friendship develops that leads to obsession as Jason starts acquiring all Johnathon ever desired, leaving Johnathon grasping for one final shot at glory at the New York International Auto Show.

Holocaust: Out of Mind? (Holocaust Light - Gibt Es Nicht!)

Almost 70 years later she returns with her granddaughter to visit the places where she suffered. Time is the sun
Time is the sun
The temporality of the real unbinding of the poverty-rabble follows a logic of eternity because at no time can the poor rabble re-enter legal and statist contexts if the possibility of accumulating property has also been lost. Its time is eternity because only the poverty-rabble presents the paradigm of absolute and complete unbinding.

Never a Foot Too Far, Even
Never a Foot Too Far, Even
Appropriating a brief fragment from a 35mm print of an old Kung Fu movie, Never a Foot Too Far, Even is an action movie without action. Presented in double-projection, with images from two separate rolls overlaid to form a single image, this film focuses on an obscure figure finding himself in a forest path, caught between perpetual motion and stasis. The painterly images fluctuate in the complex shifting of color and texture, phasing in and out through a polymetric structure. It is a perceptual journey without destination in the turning sphere of ever-changing image and sound, whose beginning and end move in parallel towards a fleeting point of convergence. The palindrome of the title alludes to the structure of the film based on various combinations of a series of recurring sequences that move forward and in reverse simultaneously, defying the usual sense of progression. With original sound composition by Malcolm Goldstein.
