Mum and Dad, and their 'adopted' children, Birdie & Elbie, work at the airport. The family live off whatever they scavenge from cargo holds, offices and hotels - including a steady stream of transient workers who populate the airport's soulless hub. When Lena, a young Polish office cleaner, is befriended by Birdie, she gets drawn into a nightmarish world of torture, murder and perversity.

So much average
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
I'm going to start this review by admitting that I'm about to give this film 7/10. I'm doing this now because I'm slightly ashamed to admit it.Basically, this film 'Mum and Dad' is pretty sick. I'm not sure what sort of person enjoys watching something like it, but, apparently, I'm it.A young cleaning girl at a British airport is lured home where she's held captive by 'Mum' and 'Dad' (obviously), plus their equally twisted offspring. If your mind is as twisted as mine, you can probably imagine some of the things that she witnesses and subsequently happens to her while she's shackled and chained. So, if you want to watch something like that then you should enjoy a film as brutal as this. It's made on a shoestring of a budget, but it doesn't really need many special effects to get its point across. It's one of the rare cases where a film really doesn't need a budget to make it any good.If you're in the mood for something sick, give it a go. Also, if you used to watch the happy-go-lucky BBC sit-com 'You Rang M'lud?' in the eighties, then you might remember the innocent and lovable 'Henry' from the show. Now watch him in Mum and Dad and you'll never be able to look at him the same way again.http://thewrongtreemoviereviews.blogspot.co.uk/
Being the Horror freak that I am, I've had my share of what popular criticism dubs as "torture porn". And I must say I'm not the least a fan of it, but I can still appreciate it when it's done right. To be honest, Mum & Dad maintains a delicate and almost accurate balance between physical and mental torture, done both to the protagonist and the audience. The build up is short and quick, and the plot does very little more than simply exist. Much like the protagonist, we the audience are presented with the situation and forced to accept it as reality, and there's very little in between. The film has some pretty sick, twisted and deranged scenes, and is not for the feint of heart or week of stomach. The screenplay is I guess rather good, for a film with so few events. The cinematography is OK but slightly boring, and the acting is impressive. Then again, as I've said, I'm no fan of torture films, so it's very hard for me to judge. All in all - think Ketchum's The Girl Next Door meets I Spit on Your Grave. Mum & Dad is one of the better torture films I've seen, and yet I remain a fan of true Horror films.
This film is pure excellence!! Sheil does a brilliant job and grabbing your attention and keeping it right from the beginning, and he shocks over and over! The best performance comes from Perry Benson as 'Dad'. He manages to convey the screwed up, twisted personality of Dad without breaking a sweat! Dad really is the star of the movie, especially with his interesting sexual antics! The narrative of Mum & Dad is just genius! It's like the British real-life version of the Hewitt family from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Th difference is you can actually imagine that somewhere around Gatwick is a twisted family like this! The Mum & Dad sadistically 'adopt' teenagers to make into their children, yet then use them as slaves to aid their murderous and thieving lifestyle. The juxtaposition of the upbeat Christmas soundtrack really highlights the twisted actions of the family, especially for the big climax ending! This really draws you in as an audience, and makes you will protagonist kidnapped Lena on to escape! But can anyone escape from Mum and Dan?! Even their friends aren't safe! An absolute MUST see! Better than any other horror film out there! Britain at it's best!
I saw this tonight and I have to say as freaky as it was it was well worth a watch. All three actresses played a great part as did the lead men.The actress who played birdie was very convincing as a sicko, although i'm pretty sure shes lovely in real life. The Polish female & mother equally played fantastic and very convincing parts. The Dad who was a proper slim ball and a proper nutter, was portrayed fantastically by a great actor. As was the male who never spoke.....Sick, Nerve Racking and very tense film that makes you wonder if their are people like that out there? Great Film
