Thanks for the memories!
Let's be realistic.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Very slow paced and very uneventful. I predicted each of the "twists" in this plot. I feel like I just wasted an hour and a half lol
When I entered this movie ,I was expecting a routine horror movie, with a serial killer ,or some monster ( gentle beasts such as vampires, wolves, werewolves ).But it is not ;it is a gripping fantasy and horror work ,with a firm screenplay-although the last sequences -which were not so necessary - are déjà Vu.As for the rest,it is above average fantasy stuff:only four characters -the latter appearing late in the story-,and interest is sustained throughout ;little by little ,clues are given to the viewer, who will not be able to guess the ins and outs of the question until the writers reveal the whole truth. The stand- out is Sam Wasterton's daughter ,who looks like the all-American-girl-of-long-ago actress ,the likes of Teresa Wright or Cathy O'Donnell;her old-fashioned clothes are a vital clue. But I will not spoil your pleasure any longer. It is noteworthy that the screenwriters give their characters substance ;they are not in here to be killed (or get laid)every fifteen minutes à la "Final Destination" .Enter !
This movie was enough to keep my interest from the beginning, it was okay, but I can only give it a four because to me it was just a drawn out Twilight Zone episode. I did however enjoy the fact there were not very many CGS scenes. I liked the way it was filmed, maybe because of budget costs, but they did do good for what they had to work with. Actually, I think if they had had a bigger budget they would have done great! The actors they picked played the parts well. What a real surprise was that they were pretty good at picking out the costumes for each character without giving anything away of the plot. So for all in all a four. I don't know if this studio has done anymore films but I would be interested in finding out more. Peace!
Some unique sci-fi at last. As a fan of this genre, I'm sure I haven't seen nothing like this before. Sure some elements of the plot were still easy predictable (like main heroes being from different times), other not that easy (different locations) and the final reveal was a nice and sudden surprise. The acting was very believable and the main trio did a great job together while developing their respective characters and also relationships among themselves. The stylized picturing only added to the mystic atmosphere and the sense of despair. And another main detail - everything was accurately and understandably explained, except of the foundation of the "phenomena" (i.e. we know, why it works and what it does, but we don't know how it works, what empowers it, it's left in the "mystic" area). But it seemed to me, the sequel maybe planned, at least I hope so. This movie is a little gem of sci-fi, don't miss it!
