Am i the only one who thinks........Average?
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
I won't spend much time reviewing this film for in all honesty many critics have done that better than i could ever do it. This only a brief take to a unmitigated disaster. This film was one of the the most hyped of its era and it was thought that it could do it. A great director, a cast full of Oscar winner and nominees and extremely well made visuals and make-up, so what when bananas and made this film so bad?For ones it is almost the same with the original, second dialogue that makes me wish to be deaf, third a stiff acting and finally one of the most idiotic ending in film history. I honestly am unable to say anything more .If something is to be said is that this film destroyed the reputation of Tim Burton as a great director and from this point on he is but a shadow of his former glory, many actors reputation was stained by that film and it took them years to come back in to the spotlight. However in all this disaster there is one good thing that came out: A guide of how not to make a remake ,which future directors and studios can uses in order to make good films and I believe that it has help ,if the new trilogy of the Planet of the Apes films is any indication.
This film, directed by Tim Burton, is a sci-fi work based on a simple script: an astronaut inadvertently falls on a planet similar to Earth, where humans are subjugated to a dominant monkey race. From there, he tries to organize a resistance and create conditions to return to his ship and travel back to Earth. That is, Burton didn't know how to use his famous creativity to show us something new. This story is almost entirely something we have already seen and read (if we consider the origin of everything, Pierre Boulle's book), dressed in new clothes, more modern or different. The work of the actors is generally acceptable, with Marc Wahlberg standing out with the main role, followed by Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Roth. The human characters are downright poor and main character's love interest attempts always seem out of context. Overall, it's a movie good enough to be seen but not enough to be remembered.
Tim Burton's remake of the classic 1968 film of the same name and in many ways the film that shows both his strengths and flaws as a filmmaker. Many have praised its visuals while also condemning its confusing story, weak characters and an ending so baffling and weird that the film would instantly jump a couple of ranks if you left it out.And yeah, there's a lot of truth to that. The visuals are great, which has always been Burton's main forte. The ape costumes are still amazingly beautiful, the set and background designs are innovative and filled with small details. The colours are great, the cinematography is nice and it's an all-around good visual experience. Plus, some of the characters are nice. Mark Wahlberg as the main character is pretty bland, as he usually is, but he's a decent actor in his own way, so I guess we could have had worse. I especially like Helena Bonham Carter as Ari, our proxy for Zira from the original film. Easily the character with the most charisma in the film. But yeah, then the flaws. The story is pretty weak. At times it simply copies the plot of the original film to the nth degree, while at the same time making lame jokes at its expense. And at times it does not do that it veers into directions all its own, none of them making much sense or serving the overall story. The third act, when we learn all the secrets behind the world, is especially weak and will leave you at least somewhat disappointed. And then there's the final twist ending that tries to up the ante from the original film. but with none of its shock value or finesse. It's simply moronic. There is value in this film. If you haven't seen the original film, you'll probably like this one fine. It's not a very clever piece of science fiction, but it's not insultingly stupid either – aside from the ending – and the visuals are good enough to warrant a viewing.
The Planet Of The Apes is loosely based of the 1968 science fiction film of the same title that stars Charlton Heston and the 1963 French novel of the same title by Pierre Boulle. It stars Mark Wahlberg together with Helena Bonham Carter,Michael Clarke Duncan,Paul Giamatti,Estella Warren and Tim Burton, who also happens to be the film's director. The year was 2029.It involves a story of an astronaut named Leo Davidson whose spaceship crash-lands on a planet that are inhabited by apes who apparently have evolved to acquire human-like attributes like culture and intelligence. It was worth noticing that the apes have built a society and have treated humans as slaves. With the aid of Ari,Leo starts a revolution to overthrow the apes. The humans win and managed to overthrow the apes.It concludes when Leo going to the spaceship and traveling back in time and landing at Washington D.C. particularly at Lincoln Memorial wherein he witnesses a statue of General Thade instead of the late President and surprisingly a group of police, fire fighters and news reporters surrounding him. Aside from the improvement of the characters' make-up particularly the apes and the use of computers for special effects, the remake definitely is inferior compared to the original in many aspects of the film. The themes it covered was more about fight for freedom and rebellion rather than issues concerning the world today which the original covered such as the world's environment, possibility of a nuclear war and slavery. With it,it only fell trap into becoming just another Hollywood action flick instead of a film that is trying to convey an important message. Finally, the conclusion will only bring confusion as it was nowhere indicated in the story that its possibility would happen.
