It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
"Let's go to prison" is a film that begins in a way and then totally changes it's main plot. In the get go of this picture, we get to think that the story is gonna focus on the judge's son revenge, but actually it focuses much more in the routine of a prison than anything else. The cast is professional and never fails in doing his job, mixing good actors with funny-- and stereotypical-- characters. The duck scene in the shower was really hilarious. I felt they should've made a last scene involving a beautiful message of friendship, but the writers chose to end it lightly. So, the movie as a whole, although being very different from it's synopsis, is quite entertaining and delivers a good time-- but never totally pleases. Give it a chance as a cheap comedy and you will may have a good time.
Let's Go to Prison is another underrated comedy effort from Will Arnett. I don't remember a whole lot of details about this film, so I'll do my best to give you all a satisfactory review. What I admired about Let's Go to prison was it strives to be unique. A prison is a very depressing place, very hard to laugh at, but the whole cast was game, and therefore made for some very entertaining sequences. Chi Mcbride's role as the gay loving inmate, often had me in stitches. What's so ironic about it, is that there are a lot of gay's in prison, and the results are usually horrifying, yet here they are making it all seem comical!. It was a very risky concept, but the cast, the writing, and the whole silliness of it all, ends up making it worth the risk.Performances. Will Arnett and Dax Sheppard are both very good together, and prove excellent chemistry with one another. Chi McBride is an absolute hoot as the gay inmate. He stole many of the scenes, with his disgusting yet howler of a part.Bottom line. Let's Go to Prison is a fun watch, it really is. It shed a whole different light on me for Prison's, and took away some of the terror from it. I'll always be afraid to go to prison, but not this one. This is one i'll revisit one day, and you should too!.6 1/2 10
Not long into watching "Let's Go To Prison", I started to wonder if this movie was originally constructed as a direct-to-video release or as a cable movie, instead of being made for theaters. Researching the production company, I saw that almost all their other credits are TV work. Also, the production values of the movie aren't so hot - though not serious cheap to the eye, the movie boasts some evident cost-cutting, like the frequent use of close-ups. Still, I think the movie still could have worked - but it doesn't. It simply isn't that funny, with no spin done on tired prison clichés that long stopped being funny. (As well, there are some scenes that seem to be intended to be *serious* - what the...?) Also, there is not one sympathetic character in the movie, making it hard to care about the fate of anyone. I will admit that the (mostly) non-name cast does manage to show they have talent, enough that I hope they manage to move past this movie and get better quality productions to work on. But this isn't enough to save the movie.
I usually don't care for prison movies but this one has me hooked. Every time I come across it on HBO, maybe half way through, I have to watch it again. The casting is perfect from the principles to the guards and other inmates. Even the judge was fun to watch. Will Arnett is great as the spoiled rich guy out of his element. Dax Shepherd is also great with his sophisticated narration despite his stoner persona. Chi McBride is fun to watch his seductive moves and then his transformation as a rich heir to Will's estate. The movie has a realist look and feel and at the same time is absurd and improbable: a good formula. Each scene is so well crafted. The editing removed any unnecessary filler that might slow the pace. There are no scenes that I would leave the room to get a beer and miss anything. The humor is not laugh out loud funny but very clever and satisfying. Arnett's facial expressions are worthy of some kind of award. I don't know how he did it. He really had to let go of looking good. All in all, an enjoyable, off beat, pleasant surprise of a movie. I pester my friends to watch it.
