Undescribable Perfection
Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
The movie is wonderful and true, an act of love in all its contradictions and complexity
i am not an ant and dec fan, i find them annoying on TV, and as much as im interested in the story, they did put me of watching it for a few years, well i picked it up for a quid yesterday, and what a bargain, i needn't of worried, this was a funny and highly enjoyable movie, and and and dec are actually good in it, they are much better in film than they are on TV. the story was well told in a nice light hearted way, and anybody who knows about the roswell hoax should enjoy this very much, its got a great supporting cast, and feels much bigger than it actually is. this country rarely gets comedy right, but here it has very well, likable leads, good jokes, and not a mockney gangster in sight, well done ant and dec, you have made a good comedy, fair play, i was very surprised
The feeble opening sequence does not lead us to anticipate a good (or in any way competent) film, but surprisingly it does improve slightly probably due to some quirky characters dotted about. The likability of Ant and Dec helps, but the script and direction (or lack of) do not.The premise of the interview by a documentary crew is a poor one and ensures the plot remains rooted to the spot. Perhaps the fact that it is based on real people and events has necessitated the approach taken. It might have been better if they had been more fast and loose with the facts (as indeed the alien autopsy film makers have been). It is riddled with meandering montages every few minutes which shows the poverty of imagination of the creators. The actual autopsy scene is good fun, but I feel more could have been made of it.
I marked this comment as containing a spoiler, but I don't really believe it does. But I got scared by the "blacklist" threat, so I thought I'd cover my tush. This low budget British buddy flick is actually quite interesting and fun to watch. As unlikely and unbelievable as the plot is, it actually pulls you in to its world and works on several different levels. Sure, it borrows a bit from other genres, i.e, suspense, heist, con-artist, and British gangster flicks. This is a low-key comedy and even most of the gags have been done better and funnier in other films. It doesn't matter, though, because the lead actors are likable and charming and the movie doesn't try to hard.Even at the end, when you're prepared for anything to happen, and if you're in the spirit of the movie, you actually find yourself on the edge of your seat. This movie doesn't end in a big bang. Your world won't be turned upside down. You won't look at existence any deeper than you do now.But you may actually feel yourself wanting to believe. You may experience what it might be like to be tempted to believe in the impossible. By not taking itself too seriously, the movie very casually lowers your defenses and makes you root for the truth to be revealed. The only question is, Is it? Is it really?
Very funny, I really like Ant and Dec acting abilities in this film. It is a shame that Ant's best part was on one of the deleted scenes, otherwise they work very well together. Good timing, good chemistry, good delivery! I never thought they could do a film after Byker Grove after about 12 years ago, shows that they still have the talent. I never know if they are actually acting or being themselves some of the times.Enjoyable, fun and silly, I would like to see another film with Ant and Dec, they are so good. I actually liked the extras, how everything was done and commented. I especially liked the deleted scenes. It was good to hear from the director what he had to say over the deleted scenes. Very good hindsight. Emotionally, serious and funny, covers all areas that I like in a film.
