A raucous story of the interweaving lives and loves of small-town delinquents, shady cops, pretty good girls and very bad boys. With Irish guts and grit, lives collide, preconceptions shatter and romance is tested to the extreme. An ill-timed and poorly executed couple's break-up sets off a chain of events affecting everyone in town.

Memorable, crazy movie
How sad is this?
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
The story-telling is good with flashbacks. The film is both funny and heartbreaking. You smile in a scene and get a soulcrushing revelation in the next.
Intermission came out in 2003r 1hr45mins through it more of rough comedy any a drama I gave it 7/10 variety of losers in Dublin have harrowing farcical intersecting stories of love, greed and violence Director:John Crowley who has done Brooklyn does an a brilliantly job of combining 11 stories Colin Farrell ... Lehiff Cillian Murphy ... John Brían F. O'Byrne ... Mick Kelly Macdonald ... Deirdre Colm Meaney ... Jerry Lynch Deirdre O'Kane ... Noeleen Intermission is one of those modern multiple story line films in which a group of characters lives intertwine and their convoluted journeys in the search for some kind of love. When the desperately insecure and emotionally inarticulate John breaks up with Deirdre to 'give her a little test' his plan backfires leaving her broken-hearted and him alone and miserable. Through chance and coincidence, their break-up triggers a roller coaster ride of interweaving escapades in the lives of everyone around them. Intermission presents a slice of life, the passage between breaking up and making up, exploring how our lives intersect, and the power we all possess to affect the lives of those around us Small town delinquents. Shady cops. Pretty good girls. And very, very, bad boys.a sex starved singleton a ruthless pretty thief older married man a wife on the brink of a breakdown an ambitious TV producers 9 year old tearaway this is a true original very smartly plotted uproariously funny startlingly unsettling and unexpectedly moving And, as per usual involves a car crash. These factors tie it to the likes of Magnolia, Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Crash, 13 Conversations About One Thing and many more films I'm sure that escape me at this point. So what does Intermission have to offer that these films do not? For one, the acting talent involved is pretty much a who's who of Irish (and Scottish) actors at present. Colin Farrell, Cillian Murphy, Colm Meaney, Shirley Henderson and Kelly Macdonald. The other main factor in the quality of Intermission lies in it's script, which comes across as funny, engaging and despite the comparisons made above is fairly original. It is most definitely a lighter affair than some of it's contemporary rivals listed above, and though not groundbreaking by any means, is a well-made and engaging piece of work There is an extra scene during the credits showing Noeleen and Sam, who have presumably gotten back together. Noeleen is pestering Sam about changing the TV channel, and her nagging manner may give a hint why Sam left her in the first place Colin Farrell performs "I Fought The Law" over the end credits . People get blinding glimpses into real nature of their lives and can see they been stuck in a rut for years just going through the motions sometimes they see with equal clarity that they are free to take charge and sometimes it just too late
It was my love for Cillian that lead me to buy this before even watching it. No worries. It's a hilarious and often jolting crime comedy/romance that has at least 40 different characters intertwining together in Dublin, Ireland. The cast is amazing, Colin Farrell, Colm Meaney, Kelly MacDonald, Cillian Murphy and many other familiar Irish faces that you might recognize if you're not a native Irish person and if you're a huge Cillian fan who has grabbed up everything you can with him in it.There is a badass cop who aspires to be a reality TV star; a dangerous criminal who has no qualms about hitting women in the face; a heartbroken wife who has some pent up rage that leads to very rough sex; a confused and hurt couple who have broken up for a very stupid reason; an unhappy bus driver who gets involved in a dumb scheme; a lonely and traumatized woman who really needs facial waxing, and a very sadistic little boy who seems to be the catalyst for this hullaballooo. If you are a relatively new Cillian fan and have enjoyed him in PERRIER'S BOUNTY, this is very similar. A funny and intense crime comedy. Highly recommended.
I'm quite surprised that this film hasn't got a higher rating. This really is a gem of movie. Well-written, well-acted, witty and brutally black dialog makes this a modern Irish classic. The acting is excellent. Colin Farrell is well cast as the stereotypical Dublin scumbag which he seems to have great fun portraying. Cillian Murphy is great as the lovelorn rogue John while David Wilmot steals the show from his more famous co-stars as unlucky in love Oscar. Kelly MacDonald, Shirley Henderson, Deirde O' Kane and Colm Meany add more weight to a highly talented cast. The film follows the lives of several different characters in contemporary Dublin and how their lives intersect. The violence and coarse language is matched by the tender and honest scenes. The fast pace of the movie holds the viewers attention fantastically well as we follow the lives of these highly likable characters(well maybe not Farrell but he is still compelling and hilarious to watch) while they search for love, happiness and the answers to life's complicated dilemmas. A true original. Even though its not much of an achievement, by far the best Irish movie ever made. Perfect stories. Perfect writing. Perfect characters. Perfect acting. Perfect film.
Well, if you loved "Crash" (no not the David Cronenberg version, but the Academy Award winning Paul Haggis film) you'll love this Irish version of everyday Irish folk in everyday life, living everyday life interchanging and interacting, kind of like a Irish "six degrees" thing. Speaking of acting, what acting...Everyone is so "real" almost like a documentary, Oscars for All! Great camera work, it just flows so well together, great cast nice to see Scottish actress Kelly MacDonald (Trainspotting, Gosford Park) again. Colin Ferrell is as intense as always, he is such fun to watch he's a great "on-the-edge-of-your-seat" actor. So if you enjoy great acting, a good story with some twists and turns check this one out. Other great Irish films are: Omagh(2004), Veronica Guerin(2003), Bloody Sunday(2002), The Commitments(1991), Waking Ned Divine(1998) and The Field(1990).Slainté
