Such a frustrating disappointment
Purely Joyful Movie!
There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Where to begin, this movie is the worst thing I have ever seen. First, this movie does not have an original bone in its body. The movie break the 4th wall more than Ferris Bueller's day off and Deadpool combined. Their 4th wall breaks and reference humor is never funny, it just drains your life essence with each crappy reference. Two of the villains in the "film" are just terrible recreations of Marv and Harry from Home alone. The plot is just a D list Paul Blart story with predictable twist. The acting and the cinematography are the same as any other lifetime movie, bland and boring. I hoped going in to the movie I could at least laugh at the movie for being so bad, but I could not even do that. I had one laugh throughout the whole experience, one fat joke at beginning of the movie, an admittedly low hanging fruit. I should have listen to the Grumpy Cat when it told me multiple times during the "film" to stop watching this garbage movie, something she stressed after each commercial break.
If you have seen Paul Blart: Mall Cop, you have seen this film. If you haven't seen Paul Blart: Mall Cop, either watch that instead or avoid this film for all the same reasons you're avoiding Paul Blart: Mall Cop. This film is exactly what you'd get if The Asylum made a mockbuster of Paul Blart: Mall Cop called Paw Blard: Mall Cat, then someone else made an amateur review of it on YouTube by occasionally cutting away from the film to video of their cat with them making sarcastic comments about the film.
I only decided to watch this because there wasn't any other movie that grabbed me that night, so I went ahead and viewed this one.Glad I did. The movie itself reminded me in many ways of the original Home Alone movie. You have the good guys, the bumbling bad guys and all that goes with it.What made it pretty darn good was the comedy that grumpy cat tossed in there that you weren't expecting. The writers did a great job of showing us the cats annoyed disposition and general annoyed attitude with a lot of surprising extras.I can't say any more that that without spoilers so yes. I recommend this. It's really cute and very, very cleaver.
I'm the grumpy sort when it comes to Lifetime holiday movies (and those of competing channels), so I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was the first Lifetime movie that I could actually stand to watch. Figuring it was just another sellout move by the cat's owners, I was ready to discard it, but after seeing that it's not the *worst*- rated movie on IMDb, I decided to see if it was worth the fuss. It's not bad. Well, it *is* bad, but you're warned from the start that it's all contrived to begin with. The movie pokes gentle fun at itself and Lifetime-type movies throughout, and did have a few moments that made me smile. I'd say it's worth watching, or streaming, if you can find it. I probably wouldn't watch it more than once, but it means that I have actually watched more than zero Lifetime movies without groaning or rolling my eyes out of my sockets. Good job, guys.
