Good story, Not enough for a whole film
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
For all those out there that have never seen "Seven" there is only one advice: watch it and shiver. For anyone who is a movie lover of thrillers and detectives this is an absolute must see. You must be crazy if one would disregard this movie. I would only advice those people NOT to go see it if they are faint of heart, because this classic has some pretty gruesome killings in it. Although most of those killings arent shown, only the victims are shown, but they are shown in such a horrifying way that I still have to look away at some scenes. This is without a doubt the ultimate freak thriller slasher movie of the nineties. But mind you, it is NOT that there is much killings to be seen, no the suspense that another victim is gonna be killed rises to levels never before seen on the silver screen. It is what some call a mindf*k thriller and oh man does your mind get twisted with the sick but intelligent plot.Starring Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey who all perform at the peak of their talents. Oscars and dozens of awards worldwide were given to this unique piece of suspense horror. One of the most popular thrillers ever released in american movie history. This is something that just mesmirizes and shocks me again and again and I must have seen it over 20 times by now.The story is about Brad Pitt, playing a young detective married to Gwyneth Paltrow. Brad Pitt has to work with another detective Morgan Freeman to solve a serial killer case. The story sounds simple but the execution of it is mindboggling nervewrecking. I think to this day it is one of the most twisted sick thrillers I have ever seen, but it is directed so brilliantly that is a joy to watch from beginning to end. If you have never seen this movie you are in a very fortunate position, because the suspense is greatest when you dont know HOW this story will turn out. Enjoy and shiver!
Well played by morgan freeman and brad pitt. Movie is a must and epic watch qith excellent plot. You definitely won't regret watching it.
Since the term was first coined, serial killers have fascinated the general public. Filmmakers have capitalized on this fascination across all forms of media, from Anthony Perkins' two-faced performance as Norman Bates to Sir Anthony Hopkins' mesmerizing role of Dr, Hannibal Lector to the very successful television show Criminal Minds. Se7en is a film that stands amongst the greatest serial killer films ever made and that is due in large part to David Fincher's vision. After being forced to deal with a unresponsive and overstepping production company for Alien 3, Fincher was determined to create a film that completely realized his vision and not that of production company executives. Everything about this film plays an important role in consciously and subconsciously building this world for the audience, from the overall production design to the small, seemingly insignificant choices when lighting both Somerset and Mills' apartments. Se7en has many elements in it which students of film should be studying, specifically in terms of world building, set design, lighting, and the subtle ways Fincher builds tension in each scene. Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt naturally play off of each other, making their interactions believable as a grizzled, jaded retiring detective trying to impress upon a optimistic, naive newly-transferred detective the darkness of the city in which they work. Although he isn't in the film for very long, Kevin Spacey plays the serial killer John Doe as an emotionless yet understandable man twisted by the same dark city he claims he is trying to wake up. My only issue with this film is that sometimes it is so dark that I wasn't able to pick up on details but this only happened a few times so it did nothing to effect the whole viewing experience. Se7en is a masterfully crafted film directed by a man who truly understands how tension and horror works and acted by those who truly know their craft and allow the audience to connect with them, even the serial killer.
We've watched this movie several times; and with each time, we see something new! It was VERY well written, EXCELLENT cast, and GREAT story line. We can't get enough of this movie! Unfortunately, people don't know how to grip your attention like this, anymore. Se7en is a MUST see!
