To me, this movie is perfection.

Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
I was hoping for a good ghost story but it failed to deliver. I was rather bored half way into the film. Mainly the two innkeepers are friends and flirt with each other. I think they like each other in "that way" but neither wants to make the first move - that's what I got out of it for the most part. OH then we have our ghost or spirit that is hardly focused on for most of the flick. Towards the end of the film they finally get to the ghost but by then I really didn't care, I just wanted the movie over with. It's true that about the time you think the movie is going to get good then it drops back down to more scenes of friends flirting again or other mundane things. 3/10
This movie is about two innkeepers who were looking after an inn which is going out of business and at the same time trying to get in contact with the spirit of Madeline O Riley. This movie story vise had a lot of potential to deliver the right note but failed drastically. As the genre suggested there is no horror in this movie. When we feel something is going to happen it doesn't. Except for the actress who did Claire rest of the actors could have done a better job. It's the same story all over again just that there are no scares this time. The ending of this movie was unpredictable but it could have been more understanding. No I would not recommend anyone to watch this movie. My Rating 4/10
The Innkeepers turned out to be a very average ghost story. I enjoyed it most of the way through, despite the slow build. The main characters were interesting enough, and the old creepy building made for a good setting. My biggest problem is how everything was resolved. The main character gets trapped in a basement, and we see the ghost coming towards her. In the next scene, we see that the girl is dead. Now, it was left somewhat open how she died, as the movie gives a clue that the girl was without her inhaler. But if you take it for face value, it looks like the ghost got her. It's never explained why the ghost might be harmful or why it would single out the girl. So that's pretty much it. Slow build, sudden ending. Fine most of the way through.
Like House of the Devil, Ti West's this new spook-fest takes its time to build up the characters & suspense. The story is pretty simple set in a beautiful premise...an old, haunted hotel. The shock factors is kinda low in here which may not satisfy some viewers and with white & fade eyes the main ghost looks kinda silly sometime. But the thing is it's a straight forward ghost story and what really interesting is how nicely Mr. West still managed to deliver an effective spooky tale through the doors, rooms & passageways of Yankee Pedlar Inn. Mr. West shows his craftsmanship as a promising director for genre films another time here by efficiently handling two major technical aspects in the film...the direction and the background scores & sound. The neat camera works & sound mixing beautifully created & maintained an unease & eerie atmosphere in every corner of the Inn (somewhat like The Shinning) throughout the film and that's the main strength of the film, IMO.
