A different way of telling a story
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Being a young, 18 Year old male in the prime of his teenage years it comes as no surprise that I enjoy the majestic genre of Teen Rom Coms. Sunday is usually quite a 'lax day for myself and I find myself, more often than not, indulging on a late afternoon chick flick however this one i found to be quite disappointing. Had it not been for the presence of Julia Stiles i would have voted this movie lower than a 5. Luke Mably on the other hand i did not enjoy but that is just because i do not like his face or his accent. "The Prince and Me", like any movie in this category is full of illogical, unrealistic and somewhat cringe moments however I think we can all agree that this is part of the reason why we watch movies such as this. The reason I did not enjoy this movie was because unlike most other movies in its class it did not have the 'happily ever after' like i was anticipating, don't get me wrong i do enjoy the odd plot twist but when i get hit by a curveball in the second game of a T- Ball tournament I can't help but feel both used and betrayed. The ending to this movie I felt was one that left me not so much in suspense but bored, the movie could have ending 15 minutes earlier before the change in plot and my vote would be a passionate 7 however it was almost like the writers changed the ending halfway through just so they could make a second and possibly a third which i am not OK with. All in all it was fun to watch but i don't think i will ever even consider watching this film again despite Julia Stiles being one hell of a cutie.
Well, I think most people are too critical. The shots were great, the music was perfect and the acting was not so bad. Kristen and Rob do not have such a strong chemistry on screen but Taylor and Kristen do.I loved some ideas, some key shots. Anyway, they act rather good, better than in Twilight. The overall was much better than the first one, it was a better mirror of the book than I expected. The Volturi part was partly disappointing. I expected something more...grand. The action was entertaining. They did a great job. It's not as far as bad as all these people say, really. I don't think that they have a fair opinion about it
This was one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen. The prince of Denmark- a womanizer- goes to school in the USA, falls in love with a farm girl in Wisconsin and is completely transformed into a responsible royalty ready to lead a country as a king. In between there is some sort of a race in the farm community of Wisconsin where our prince proves his mettle because he has been doing car racing as a pastime in Denmark (while he was an irresponsible Casanova). The silliness does not stop there. Paige leaves for Denmark on a whim, to follow her lover, and is ready to become queen. However, when her sweetheart is interrupted while kissing her, to address some important business about his country, she becomes sullen and decides to go back to the USA.They could have ended the story there- not a bad way to end it. However, this is Hollywood, folks! It must have a romantic, happy ending. Paige graduates from college despite missing two weeks of school, and while she is celebrating her graduation, prince charming returns,- out of nowhere- after he has been crowned the King of Denmark, and asks her to marry him after she finishes medical school. He would wait for her, he says. So the Queen of Denmark would be a practicing physician (or surgeon). THE (happy) END. This is saccarin sweet. The acting was not bad, but Julia Stiles is hardly a beauty. That is acceptable; the character was not meant to be beautiful. The story is so bad though that even suspending your intelligence does not make it palatable.I apologize to those who enjoyed this movie. To each his own.My recommendation- stay away from it if you value your time.
This is a movie about the oldest existing royal family in the world and they can't even give the danish crown prince a danish name. For the last many hundred years it would have been Christian or Fredrik like the current prince. They could have given him anyone of hundreds danish names even if they did not want to be historically correct but no lets name him after the English royal family instead. I also did not like how Denmark got portrayed as old fashioned when in fact it is very modern. The danish people love their royal family and this portrayed the relationship in a very undanish way. If the film makers wished to make the story take place in a fantasy kingdom they should have done what Disney did in princess diaries, and not insult the Danes. Julia Stiles is what makes this a good movie.
