i must have seen a different film!!
For all the hype it got I was expecting a lot more!
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Here we go again, with a "sequel" that has so little in comon with the original that it should hang its head in shame ! Have a quick look at all the 1. 2, and 3 ratings. Of course, following a pattern I've noted time after time on IMdB, there are some 10s and 9s for a big flop of a film. Who are most (not all, let me add) of the "reviewers" who do this ?? Cast or crew members/friends? Kids? A little research shows that usually most "reviewers" doing this have reviewed only one, two or maybe five movies. The following 10/10 "review" for The Butterfly Effect 2 is from an IMdB member who has reviewed a grand total of two flicks! Here's the header: " 10/10 Better than I thought it would be imafan41118 October 2006 " There's precious little to recommend this motion picture... the music is dreary, the acting amateurish, plot (what plot?), cinematography fair at best, pacing dull, uneven, script duh!, effects meh!... you get the idea. The movie seems to have been put together by a bunch of smartypants juveniles who figure THEY know what's happening. Nope, they don't ! This is one to miss ~ at any time, in any time zone, in any universe. I rate it 2/10 because there are films that are worse. #
After watching The Butterfly Effect (2004) I was hoping to see a seconded part to the movie. I searched the internet to find there was a part 2, there was and I watched it thinking I may or may not like the second part, well I did. I did not find it (2) quite as exciting as the first one but it was a good film never-the-less.If you understand The Butterfly Effect (2004) then you can follow part two fairly easy. As long as you know what "The Butterfly Effect" is then you will have a basic understanding of what is going on in part 2 of the movie. Part 2 is a separate film so you will still have to watch it to know what happens because it is not a copy of nor a remake of The Butterfly Effect (2004).I think the IMDb rating on The Butterfly Effect 2 is a bit underrated but not as good as the first film.7.5/10
I really like this The Butterfly Effect (2004) I think that great movie, really well made.I did not even know this movie was made it until i find out about The Butterfly effect 3 two years ago, I was like what, when did they make the second after that seen all the review mostly bad ones.I was not going to watch this movie at all but two days ago I saw this movie for 75P, I could not say no to that. This movie is about guy who was in a car crash that killed his pregnant girl friend and two of his other friends and after he came out of his coma.He can now look old pictures and come back in time when the picture was taken and change is life for the better, but he just makes is life worse. The ending was so predictable, how can no one see that coming! The acting in this movie was descent for a sequel that went Straight to DVD 3 out of 10
The Butterfly Effect 2 starts as Julie Miller (Erica Durance) is enjoying her 24th birthday with her boyfriend Nick Larson (Eric Lively) & two close friends, however Nick gets a call from work & they have to go but while driving along a tyre blows out & they are hit by a huge truck. With Julie & his two friends dead Nick is devastated as the only survivor, while experiencing headaches Nick looks at a picture of himself & Julie & manages to travel back in time to that point & is able to change the past. Right away Nick decides to go back to the day of the crash & manages to alter history & save Julie & his friends but Nick soon becomes obsessed with going back in time & trying to change things to make a perfect future for himself & Julie but each time he does go back his future gets worse & worse...Directed by John R. Leonetti this was a straight-to-video sequel for the sci-fi drama The Butterfly Effect (2004) & is just about inferior to the original in every respect. While I liked the original The Butterfly Effect I didn't love it, I thought it was an above average well written sci-fi drama while The Butterfly Effect 2 is a below average badly written sci-fi drama. In all honestly beside the title this has little connection to the original anyway, there are no black-outs in this, the main character Nick travels back in time by looking at pictures rather than reading journals & apart from the first time he travels back to save his friends lives most of what he does seems very selfish, the emotion you felt for the character's in the original certainly isn't here with a picture book perfect collection of young men & women. Also I didn't think all of Nick's decisions made sense, I mean if you go back to stop getting hit by a huge truck because of a tyre blow out why didn't he just stop the car & pull over until the huge truck had gone by? Instead he just tells Julie to put a seat belt on. Then there's the ending which is basically the same as the original but if that phone-call from work started the whole chain why does he just not answer the call? Also the car coming towards him at the end is seen from a great distance & sure either Nick or the other driver would have stopped or something rather than just heading straight for each other. There are just to many scenes here where you will not understand character's motives or simply think they are plain stupid. Too much of the film is spent on Nick trying to forge a perfect future & trying to get a top job where he works which is just quite dull really & the film isn't as dark in tone as the original either. Once again no explanation is given as to why Nick can time travel & it's more of an issue here than the original since the plot & character's are weaker here.At 90 odd minutes The Butterfly Effect 2 isn't a particularly long film but it does feel that way as it does tend to drag. The Butterfly Effect 2 never pushed the original concept any further & in fact probably pushes it further into the background in order for it to become a convenient way to go back in time that has no real reason or explanation behind it. There's no real blood or gore but a man does have his face smashed through a glass table & there are a couple of sex scenes including one where Nick wakes up to find someone under the sheets is sucking him off & finds out that it's some gay gangster, that would just screw me up for life man. Now getting a blow job from a bloke is something I definitely would want to go back & time & stop happening if you know what I mean.Filmed in British Columbie in Canada this has good production values but does tend to look like the straight-to-video shelf filler it so obviously is at times. The acting is alright but the cast just look too perfect & no-one stands out as being particularly good. The only significant connection The Butterfly Effect 2 has to the original is one picture printed in a newspaper of Jason Treborn who was Evan's father in The Butterfly Effect. The Butterfly Effect 2 is a dull sequel that tells the same sort of story as the first but is even vaguer & has even less rules regarding the time travel aspect which doesn't help & a lack of any real involvement with the character's or interesting time alterations means this is instantly forgettable fare.
