Determined to learn about her boyfriend's past relationships, Stacy -- who works for a talk show -- becomes a bona fide snoop. With her colleague, Barb, Stacy gets the names of Derek's ex-lovers and interviews them, supposedly for an upcoming show. But what she learns only adds to her confusion, and her plans begin to unravel when she befriends one of the women.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Plot-wise the movie sounds better than eventually executed. Stacy (Murphy) gets hold of her boyfriend's digital organizer containing information including pictures of his former girlfriends. But it all seems to go nowhere really really slow. Most of the acting is shallow to workmanlike and the characters aren't all too deep. Murphy's character is unsurprisingly once again: a cute, seemingly innocent girl, but somehow you know she' about to do no good. What saves the movie is Brittany Murphy herself. It is for her fans. There's deliciously long camera time devoted just to her amazing face all through the movie. Certainly it's working due to her recent demise all the more. Either way you can view the movie as portfolio of Brittany. You can do this separately from the story, which drags anyway. Other reviewers have called her presence irritating. But to all fans of hers it is just what they need: A close-up study of a uniquely "cute" and unquestionably ambitious actress.Three quarters into the movie, things actually pick up and begin making sense. Ultimately a surprisingly uplifting movie, still not exactly a "feel-good-movie".
I watched this movie because I like many of the actors: Holly Hunter, Kathy Bates, and Ron Livingston. Brittany Murphy is cute and appealing. But every scene was excruciatingly painful and there was nothing to redeem the film. The narration (by the main character) was trite, the plot was thin, and too much time was spent on the behind-the-scenes of a trashy daytime talk show (we all know that these shows are drivel and the producers lack integrity---please tell us something that we don't know). If it weren't a lazy Sunday morning, I would have certainly changed the channel. Please, don't be fooled, and don't waste your time. I have never bothered to review a movie based on how negatively I feel about it, but this movie took the cake.
Enjoyed this film concerning a young girl, Brittany Murphy, (Stacy) "The Groomsmen", who has a strong desire to become a big TV Star and appear on Television with Diane Sawyer; Stacy's mom, Sharon Lawrence, is a devoted fan of Carly Simon and plays all her songs day and night while Stacy was growing up. Stacy meets some friends who manage to get her a position on a TV Show where Kathy Bates, (Kippie Kann), "Relative Strangers" who runs a sort of Reality Show. Stacy has a boyfriend who she loves very much, however, she suspects he has had plenty of girl friends in the past and wants to learn more about these girls and how good he performed in the bedroom. There is lots of comedy and scenes where Stacy runs around in just a brief pair of lacy panties and top and manages to get herself into some very difficult situations. All the actors gave a great performance and this was a very cute film about really nothing.
I absolutely love this film!Maybe that's because i love chick flicks in general, maybe i'm biased, but it is a great film and i'm not the only one who thinks it.Brittany Murphy is wonderful as always and Holly Hunter is good. This isn't your run-of-the-mill chick flick. When you read between the lines it's touching. Maybe the girl doesn't always get the guy in the end. Maybe she doesn't have her happy ending. But i'm not telling. Just think about it when you watch it, that's the whole point. It's a film that doesn't necessarily conform to the 'chick flick' guidelines.Although the concept of the plot is hardly believable as most chick flicks are not, it seems believable. You can relate to the girl. Everyone has problems, her friends, her boyfriend, her mum and her, and they all love Carly Simon!!!I will happily watch this film over and over. I laughed, i nearly cried and i was surprised. But maybe i'm just biased!10 outta 10!!!
