Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Excellent, Without a doubt!!
There is nothing redeeming about this movie. There is zero chemistry between the leads. (How could they make Alex O'Loughin look more dweebish than sexy?) The story is completely unrealistic. And I don't know how Lopez can vomit so much and yet keep her fake caterpillar eyelashes (and surrounding makeup)intact. Not only did I not laugh once, I didn't even break a smile. I can't believe any serious actor would sign up to do this movie. I felt sorry for the stunt dog that they stuck into the "cart like" thing, and feel sorry in general to poor cast that had to watch the lames scenes shot over and over. They probably wanted to quit. Poorly written. Mediocre acting. No heat. No laughter. No fun. Just horrible.
"The back up plan" is a story about an independent woman, Zoe, who decides to have a baby by her own. But as soon as she walks out of the doctor's office, she runs into Stan. She will soon fall for him, but she is also having twins on her own. What will she do? The story seemed very interesting at first, however it gets on a different direction as the movie develops. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes boring and sometimes romantic, even though the couple's chemistry is not very good. Especially some parts made me feel like they were trying too hard to make it comical and entertaining, that they had overdone it. The ending, finally, is predictable, and confusing, with the last scene creating new questions to the audience. So 4 out of 10, because I expected more from it.
The only thing good about this movie is anyone other than J Lo. This film is so bad that I couldn't even watch it for free on TV.J Lo's "acting" when seemingly "cute" is, however, a nice little act. Because in person, she is just awful. Her trite little movies go along with her trite little life. I have had a few very unpleasant personal encounters with her, which haven nothing to do with the fact that her movies ALL stink. Given what I know about her, I do wonder how much divalisciousness J Lo displayed on set. I feel sorry for anyone who has to work with her. I have yet to any good film that J Lo is in. I'm at the point that I won't see any of them anymore. The only reason I saw "Monster in Law" was for Jane Fonda! And that movie was still awful, except for her.
Zoe's a woman who has a hard time letting anyone into her life. She has a habit of pushing people away when they get close. She also wants to have a baby but because she has no man in her life decides to be artificially inseminated. Shortly after having the procedure she meets a guy named Stan whom she connects with. But she's still afraid to let him in and when she tells him about her pregnancy thinking he would bail but he sticks with her. Most of this was pleasant, just nothing new, and recycled formula. Lopez is a charmer, but let's face it, she can do this sort of stuff in her sleep. I don't remember laughing out loud. The chemistry between O'Loughlin and Lopez is professional and solid, If nothing memorable.Bottom line. Watchable, but just barely above the Mendoza line. Really mediocre stuff, and nothing I haven't seen before. Take it or leave it, your not really missing anything.4 ½ 10
