Challenges of impending parenthood turn the lives of five couples upside down. Two celebrities are unprepared for the surprise demands of pregnancy; hormones wreak havoc on a baby-crazy author, while her husband tries not to be outdone by his father, who's expecting twins with his young trophy wife; a photographer's husband isn't sure about his wife's adoption plans; a one-time hook-up results in a surprise pregnancy for rival food-truck owners.

Sorry, this movie sucks
Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Terrible, do not watch!!! J-lo , well J-lo is in it so there's one strike, Dennis Quiad's son in the movie is a complete retard and he looks older then Dennis Quaid. That dude from Glee has terrible hair and Cameron Diaz , i just don't like her. Its so disjointed that it seems that time is happening in real time like they got to full term in a matter of an hour and a half. The man flock of baby carrige pushers is dumb , even Chris Rock cant save it, just stupid. F-ing stupid, if I could I would give it a -10 out of 10 for a rating but IMDb wont let me so its getting a 1 out of 10 from me. I have never ever seen a pack of dads with babies, maybe they're gay, who knows?
I was going to finish watching it, but I just cannot deal with Jennifer Lopez and her horrible acting... I'm sorry, I just cannot. I wanted to see the movie because I read the book quite some time ago myself (No, I am not an expecting mother, nor was I then, and I do not plan on going through such life altering developments...just yet : ]. I simply have an interest in the miracle that is child birth, and I like to remain educated on the topic), and I absolutely loved it! And so when I saw they were making a film around the novel, I was interested, as you can imagine. All to be disappointed upon finding out that they would cast such an...odd assortment of characters for a film like this, starting with their choice to include such a talentless person like Jennifer. Now, don't get me wrong, she had her time in the 90's and early 2000's, when art was at it's most raw form, but she's older now and should be moving on to other things, and many do agree with me. She's not a great singer, in my opinion, and I love all kinds of music. Her acting is a bit stiff to me, and when she tries to branch out you can see the strain. And that's what I get from this film. Strain. *sigh* Well, better luck next time, Kirk. I'm sure you'll learn your lesson. A pretty face is not always best choice.
What to Expect When You're Expecting is a dramatic and comedic film that is based on the book of the same title written by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel. It has an ensemble cast that includes stars like Cameron Diaz,Jennifer Lopez,Elizabeth Banks,Brooklyn Decker,Anna Kendrick,Chris Rock and Dennis Quaid. It attempts to put humor on what is to be expected on pregnant women particularly at the time of delivering their baby.It was directed by Kirk Jones. The screenplay includes women such as:Jules,a female contestant on a celebrity dance show and a weight-loss fitness show host that became pregnant with her dance partner's baby;Holly,a woman who adopts a baby from Etiophia after her husband has had difficulty conceiving; Wendy,a wife who finally becomes pregnant after two years of trying; and Rosie Brennan, who becomes pregnant unexpectedly and suffers a miscarriage. All these women are involve in five plot lines that intersect with one another.Too bad that the movie is suffers from lack of originality as it definitely was just a rehash of jokes and comedic scenes that have already been seen from many movies in the past.It was also boring at times as the cast involved fails to spark interest to their characters especially among the viewers. The only two positive things I could say is we get to see the sexy actresses involved flaunting their bodies and ultimately becoming showing how great they are able to keep their sexiness at the time of pregnancy. With regards to it acting as a pregnancy guide,it was just too bad that they don't bring new information for single women who will become mothers in the future except those that many are already familiar with. What's more, the characters mentioned don't provide sincere emotions of getting pregnant nor the stage of parenthood for fathers and most especially mothers who are going to have a child soon whether by delivering one or adopting one.In addition to that, the performances of some of the cast are severely lacking in authenticity and sincerity. No wonder some members got Razzie nominations. In the end, it would have just been better that a documentary was made instead of a dramedy or better yet,the movie took some risk with the screenplay for it has the talent to do so with the cast involved.
This movie was exactly what it was titled. "what to expect when you're expecting" really delves into the pregnancy pedantic and shows all the scares and thrills about being pregnant. Miscarriages, risks in giving birth, the troubles and scares of adopting, and the unexpected. most of what could go wrong, did. although I would have liked to see them go into detail on the miscarriage as it causes the most emotional turmoil and often leads to depression. it would have been great if they emphasized on a message instead of a love story.I think Wendy would most likely resemble nearly every women in pregnancy. That whole illusion of pregnancy glow is all an exaggeration. Women don't become more beautiful or glamorous when they get pregnant, the hard reality is women get fat, stretch marks, cankles, an uncontrollable bladder and the worst morning sickness. I think that's why they showed her story line the most. but then, why would they add in Sklyer? A perfect pregnant woman that fits the image of that exact glow? because there are those who do become more beautiful and glamorous, have the most wonderful time during pregnancy and the script writers didn't want to leave that out, because after all it is a show about what to expect when you're expecting.
