Great Film overall
Crappy film
Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
This 11-minute short film came out after the very first of so far 4 Shrek movies. Fiona gets abducted and it's Shrek and Donkey's turn to free her from the evil Ghost of Farquaad. There's a spectacular dragon flight sequence and a couple more action-packed moments, but it's just not enough. It is really a bit of everything in here: action, comedy, romance, drama, fantasy, mystery... but none of these areas are elaborated on well enough, especially comedy, to make this a satisfying watch. In my opinion, this is one of the weaker Shrek short films and there are quite a few actually. Instead of watching this one here, I recommend the Halloween special from 7 years later, so far the last entry to the mega-successful franchise. That one is quite a lot of fun and even a bit creepy, but not too much. "Shrek 4-D" is not really a must-see unless you are one of the biggest fans of the franchise under the sun. Not recommended.
I loved the movie Shrek, so I was all for checking out Shrek 4D. And it was a really great and enjoyable "ride", with wonderful animation especially with the waterfall and effects that really draw you into what's going on especially Donkey sneezing and the spiders. The music is driven and memorable, the plot is simple but engaging and the jokes are very funny and well written, with the part at the start of the attraction in the torture chamber a riot and the dialogue always witty and amusing. The characters are just as likable as in the movie, especially Donkey and Gingerbread, and the voice work especially from Eddie Murphy is full of energy.Overall, heartily recommended. 9/10 Bethany Cox
I did not hate the actual featurette, what I hated was that it was only sold in addition to Shrek 1, which everyone and his brother already owned, and had to buy again, just to get this 15-minute bridge into Shrek 2.It was a shameless marketing ploy designed to shove a second copy of the original movie down the consumers' throats, regardless of whether they had already purchased the original movie, or NOT. It was George Lucasesque in its gross thoughtlessness for the fans, and Dreamworks was considered to be above those shady tactics. The featurette should have been made available - at a REASONABLE PRICE - without forcing the consumer to buy another copy of a movie they already had.The practice employed here rates a 0/10.The featurette itself, for what it was, rates a 4/10 from...the Fiend :.
When I went to the Universal Studios, I was sure, that the new attraction named Shrek 4-D was not very special. But I was totally wrong! First when your enter in the ride, they explain to you the story of Shrek 1, and like this even people who didn't see the movie can enjoy the ride, for people who saw the movie, this part might be long and boring, but it will be great after:P When I came in the theater, I sat and my father told me at least one ride where we won't get wet! But he was wrong!! Shrek 4-D is greater than an ordinary 3-D animation, because you don't just see it as you are there you feel as you are there! Like if something fall down, there are going to put compressed air on your feet to make you feel it's real. Or if someone sneeze, you will receive water in your face. I really liked it, it was exciting, funny and there was a lot of adventure and action! If the line-up wasn't so long, I probably will have do a second time this ride! Excellent, everybody will like it!
