The Worst Film Ever
Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Does anyone understand this film the first time round? Or at least the first half of the film until you realize the six different storylines actually intertwines. At first, it is awfully confusing with the same actors portraying very different characters in different time periods. Also, with so many characters I easily forget about some of them and what they were up to, with the jumping backwards of forwards between stories and timelines. It is an interesting concept, though, but a heck of a lot to digest. The actors does a brilliant job, especially Tom Hanks. The make-up and visual effects are incredible, the music awesome. I loved how the individual stories ended, although I must admit I did not see the one impacting the other, apart from the fact all the stories had the same theme: cry for freedom. As the film contains so many genres, it really is difficult categorizing it. It is essentially a love story, comedy, drama, sci-fi, action adventure...
There will be people who will say this one of the best movies they ever watched. There would also be people who say this is one of the worst movies they will ever see. The hard part about reviewing this movie is that I don't think this can have a normal, fair review. This is a very long movie. It has a run-time of just under 3 hours, but it feels like it's 4 hours. I think this directly correlates with the problems in tone. The movie tells multiple stories, ones that span across centuries. The movie just has a hard time, keeping a solid tone. From one second you will go from a gunfight or an ax battle, then to a a character ascending to some kind of spiritual order. Honestly though the biggest problem in the messages the movie wants to give are of many, but the main point simply does not carry too much weight. There will also be times when you wonder if there are any reasons why certain scenes will be taking place, and if they have a a deeper meaning, few times with no answer. Cloud Atlas might be a masterpiece, but so far I have nothing. I am going to give Cloud Atlas a 6.
Amazing movie. I finally got most of all the details after my 3rd viewing. You ave to be smart and watch, listen to every detail or you won't get it. Very rare where you can get so much more from a movie after watching it several times. The acting, what can you say, no better. The casting 100%. Creating the different time periods, amazing. The make up & wardrobe was great. It is definitely a movie for average to very smart people. It demands your attention all the time because if you miss one little part of the movie and don't follow all the detail you will miss how to put it all together. In my mind one of the best Original masterpieces of all time. And I have watched 1.000 of movies. & am picky. 10+ For Me., It's a Keeper.
There's times in your life, when you start losing hope, and feeling quite lost, but then Cloud Atlas comes at the right moment, just to remind you what life is all about. While confusing at first, drifting from one story to another, it might seem like a total mess, thus the low ratings from many people, but as you dig deeper and deeper into the movie, you quickly realize that there's not one, but six different timelines, that is six different movies to watch in just three hours, without a single second being rushed. Did I mention there's six characters played by the one and only, Tom Hanks? So, should you watch it?If only there was a time machine that would allow me to travel three hours back, and relive the whole experience again and again.Short answer: yes! Long answer: why are you still reading? Go watch it already!(Also I apologize for any typo's, I'm 17 and English is not my native language).
