BOYKA is the fourth of the UNDISPUTED franchise and once again sees Scott Adkins reprising his role as the unimitable Yuri Boyka, 'most complete fighter in the world'. The plot is a little different this time around and much more character-focused as Boyka finds religion and attempts to make amends for a past transgression. The story is set outside of a prison now so the plot is more gangster themed, but don't fear, there's still a sequence of splendid ring fights that don't disappoint. Although Isaac Florentine wasn't able to come back and direct, the Russian guy they found does a top job and the action choreography is as good as ever. I found this to be the best of the series thus far, purely because it has more heart to it and the presence of a woman in the cast (gasp!) turns out to be an asset rather than a detraction. It's very similar in tone to Van Damme's excellent A.W.O.L. Adkins shows off great range as the hard-man hero and his character arc is solid. The last 30 minutes is chock-full of top action and suspense, with newcomer Martyn Ford standing out as the big bad fighter and an amazing climax to top it off.
Now many people (rightfully)say this kind of story is been done so many times. However the previous installments built up the character of Uri Boyka so well in characteristics & abilities we can't help but be involved in his current goal for redemption.Good performances -especially Scott Adkins, whos character Boyka is already a cult favorite- along with fight sequences that are even more inventive than the previous films make this a worthy addition after Undisputed 2 & 3. The only criticism I have is the beating & injuries Boyka receives near the end are a long stretch in terms of survival, but I'm giving it a pass because I enjoyed this flick a lot.Boyka: Undisputed is definitely worth the buy!
And finally Scott Adkins is back in the ring. What do you expect from this kind of movies? pure fight and this movie give you that in a good way. nice fights not as strong as vol 2 and 1 but good enough. The whole series are fine and watch all of them if you not. In this one story is a bit messy and weak but does not matter, we are not seeking philosophy in such movie. The only funny thing in this movie is the English accent of actors and actress. if this is supposed to be in Russia so speak Russian, if you want to make Hollywood movie then speak English. it is funny whole thing happen in Russia in small town and every time Russians speak to each other in English with Russian accent :| anyway enjoy the movie
